Angels Camp, CA...As the rains came down on Sunday the amount of water flowing down Hwy 49 in Historic Downtown Angels Camp turned from a small stream to a torrent that overwhelmed the storm drains along the way. Nellie Lou's Antiques, Aeolion Harp, Angels Creek Cafe, Stories in Stone and bore the brunt of the deluge. Owners of Nellie Lou's had already torn out their carpets and were hard at work drying their floors this afternoon. Stories in Stone across the street had a river of water coming into their building from their back wall....

Dennis was out of town on business so Daughter Michelle Lee handled the MC Duties. For its 20th birthday, The Angels Inn Motel has been getting a makeover, transforming it into Travelodge Angels Camp...

Arnold, CA....Last Thursday night the banquet room at Sequoia Woods Country Club was filled to the brim with over 100 local business people who gathered for the Greater Arnold Business Association's (GABA) Annual Christmas Dinner. It was another great example of the continuing push by the Arnold area and it's businesses to improve the local economy and burnish Arnold's place as a destination spot. GABA has seen a resurgence the last year and it is great to see one of Calaveras County's best destinations firing on all cylinders. Congrats GABA on the great year!!

Angels Camp, CA...Dear Friends of the CVB, After more than a year of soliciting input from our members, listening, debating and thoughtful consideration of the options for securing much-needed funding for the promotion of tourism in Calaveras County, the Calaveras Visitors Bureau (CVB) Board of Directors stands behind our decision to partner with a coalition of community groups, known as Citizens for a Better Calaveras (CBC) in an effort to raise the County Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) from 6% to 10% and lock in the funding for all partners in the coalition. These vital local organizations all do a great deal to benefit the quality of life and business in Calaveras County. And, as a coalition, they're well positioned to garner the required support for a two-thirds majority vote on a 4% TOT increase...
