Frogtown, USA...Cost-saving incentives encourage local vendors to jump in and be part of the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee. The May 15-18 event provides great commercial opportunities with discounts up to 20 percent for local companies. Non-profit and commercial vendors can choose outside exhibit areas at Frogtown or be located indoors in Mark Twain Hall or the Floriculture building. Rental rates range from $200 for crafters with handmade items to $1,100 for prime commercial space....

Mark Twain Medical Center Awards $26,000 in Community Grants to Non Profit Organizations |

San Andreas, CA...Yesterday Mark Twain Medical Center continued their tradition of helping in the community. They held their Annual Awards Luncheon at the hospital where the 6 organizations were chosen to receive grants from a total of 19 who applied. The awardees are: Arc of Amador and Calaveras – (provides support and services to persons with developmental disabilities to encourage mainstream life, work, learning and recreation). Disability Resource Agency for Independent (supports the independence of individuals with disabilities through resources, advocacy and services). Ebbetts Pass Firefighters Association (CPR classes and AED education for community). San Andreas Community Covenant Church (to provide free community meals every Wednesday). Resource Connection - Food Bank (serves 2,523 families-accounting for 17% of the population of Calaveras County). The Volunteer Center (mileage reimbursement to volunteers that provide transportation to vulnerable citizens)...

Angels Camp, CA....Gary Hillman, Designer and Craftsman was born in Sacramento in 1945. He was been woodworking since 1975. At that time he was raising a family, teaching guitar, and going to art shows in the Bay Area. He lived in Los Gatos and took the top prize in wood, at the Mill Valley Art Festival. Also, in Berkley, CA and Best of Show at Provo Park. He has recently move to Angels Camp and purchased 20 acres opened a shop...
