Arnold, CA...We had the pleasure to visit SNAC's Arnold store to talk to Shawn Seale about next weekend's Paddlefest and the latest water toys to take to the our area high country lakes. Most of which have plenty of water to play in. After starting out at the store we took a field trip to White Pines Lake where Shawn & Jill demoed a great two person kayak that will even fit inside a Prius.
Arnold, CA...The 2015 Arnold Lions Golf Tournament is June 20th this year.

Arnold, CA...Just a reminder: The second Monday of the month General membership meetings are held at 6:00pm at the Arnold Firehouse. (Park in back) On the agenda will be: The Independence Day Parade, The GABA Summer Concert Series, The Chamber Cruise Fundraiser, The Arnold Art and Adventure Expo and SierraSentry Productions will show the new Expo/Arnold promotional video.

Arnold, CA...John & Laurie Detrick of Arnold, California are retiring after faithfully serving in our community for 28 years. During these years, John has been the Pastor at Big Trees Community Bible Church In White Pines. For most of those years John Detrick has played music and sung every month at Morning Sing, with the children of Hazel Fischer School up through the present time. John Detrick is also an active participant in the Calaveras Communty Band. For many years John played along with the students in the Bret Harte band at their musical drama performances. Both he and Laurie were "Band Parents" while their children were in band at Bret Harte. Laurie made oodles of cookies for them! Laurie Detrick has been an Aide at Hazel Fischer School for the past 18 years.
Washington, DC...Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 280,000 in May, and the unemployment rate was essentially unchanged at 5.5 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job gains occurred in professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, and health care. Mining employment continued to decline. Household Survey Data In May, both the unemployment rate (5.5 percent) and the number of unemployed persons (8.7 million) were essentially unchanged. Both measures have shown little movement since February...
HealthLitNow (HLN) Awarded Three Grants To Enable Expansion of HLN Programs

Sonora, CA. - HealthLitNow (HLN) is pleased to announce the receipt of three grants that will enable the expansion of HLN programs in Tuolumne County. The Statewide Office of Healthcare Planning and Development (OSHPD) has awarded HLN a grant in the amount of $11,965 to provide a series of Healthcare Career Workshops to Tuolumne County students during the 2015 – 2016 academic year. The Tuolumne County Department of Behavioral Health subsequently provided an additional $10,000 grant to enhance the Healthcare Careers Workshop program which will emphasize the opportunity for careers in behavioral and mental health programs and on May 26, the Sonora Area Foundation board of directors voted to award HLN a grant in the amount of $15,080 to enhance the Healthcare Careers workshops in addition to supporting other programs underway at HLN.
Angels Camp, CA...The public is invited to join a festive Grand Opening celebration at Sugar Bakery, 1257 S. Main St., Angels Camp starting at noon Friday, June 5. Organized by Destination Angels Camp, Wes Kulm, mayor of the City of Angels Camp will conduct the ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:15 p.m. Sugar Bakery opened the end of March in historic downtown Angels Camp with rave reviews. "Customers love my scones," said Abusaidi. "It's how I got my start. It was hard to find a really good scone here, so I developed my own recipe. I'll have four types of scones available any given day along with cinnamon rolls, turnover, breads and pastries - all hand-made here daily on the premises. I use only fresh ingredients."
