Why Tourism Matters, and Our Focus on Our Industry in 2016 ~ By Lisa Mayo, Executive Director, Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/04/2016 02:26 PM
Sonora, CA...Does this election season have you thinking, “I need a vacation”? Though you may not realize it, you’re actually doing yourself and your country a great service if you take one. When you pack your bags and travel, you’re helping to grow local economies, create American jobs and improve your own work performance, relationships and personal well-being. That’s why policies that protect and promote travel—from improvements to our roads and airports, to safely keeping America’s doors open to international visitors—are necessary for the health of our country. Right now, we’re working to highlight how important the travel industry is for Tuolumne County, and making sure that our elected officials, both on the campaign trail and off, know it.

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/30/2016 01:24 PM
Murphys, CA...A $15,000 grant from the Calaveras Community Foundation will make it possible for the heavily used children’s area of the Murphys Community Park to be repaired, made safe, and brought up to state standards. “Unknown people have vandalized the area and virtually destroyed the slides and climbing apparatus making them unsafe,” says Sue Friedman, president of the Murphys Community Club that has the responsibility for the upkeep and operation of the park. “This generous grant will allow us to restore the equipment and buy new swings. It will also pay for installing several tons of wood chips in the area as mandated by the state.”
