Angels Camp, CA...It is with profound sadness that we share news of George Wendt’s passing. George breathed his last at 1:36 pm on Saturday July 9th, by all appearances in comfort and with relief. Surely, he was loved – by those in the room with him at the end, and by the many he touched with his gentleness and grace. George was a kind and humble man who seemed to take a genuine interest in everyone he met. He was a river pioneer, an adventure travel icon, and a conservation leader.

Is It Time To Rethink Or No Longer Rely On Our Power Grid After Yesterday?
Posted by: thepinetree on 07/03/2016 10:47 AM
Arnold, CA...First and foremost Thank You to all of our fire personnel who do a remarkable job protecting our area every fire season!! The question is have we reached the point where we should start rethinking how we distribute the energy that powers our homes, businesses & recreation venues. Last year the unspeakable damage from the Butte Fire was sparked by a tree into an overhead power line. Yesterday, Angels Camp all the way past Arnold was without power on arguably one of our busiest tourism days of the year. This isn't anyone's fault (Except for the guy who started the fire while working on his pump). This isn't the first 4th of July weekend we have had this happen. Two years ago a slightly smaller power outage had a similar effect.

Angels Camp, CA...Counter Balance is a short film about giving back to the brave men & women of our military who have served us all. Too many have returned from deployments ill-equipped for civilian life, but on a 4-day rafting trip on the Green River in Dinosaur National Monument, veterans are given the opportunity to come together to laugh, to cry, and to purge it all among friends on an experience that taps into the restorative power of wilderness.
