Angels Camp, CA...Behind most great organizations there is invariably one or two people who are the driving force to see that progress is made and plans come to fruition. Behind Bret Harte’s beautiful facilities and sports venues that many colleges would be proud to have that driving force has been and is Tony Tyrrell. From walking the halls in the state capital in search of grants and contributions to getting bond measures on ballots and endless fundraising he has done it all. Hospice Of Amador & Calaveras Offers Volunteer Training

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/13/2016 01:35 PM
Jackson, CA...Hospice of Amador & Calaveras has a history of providing end-of-life care to both Amador & Calaveras residents. The agency began with a volunteer program over 30 years ago and now they continue to offer care with a well trained, professional staff and also with the help of a large number of trained volunteers. Volunteers provide special comfort to terminally ill patients and their families. Volunteers support by sitting with patients and listening, reading to them, running errands or assisting in many other ways. Many times patients want to share stories that they have never shared before. Trained volunteers can offer respite to the family member/paid caregiver who tends the patient on a 24 hour basis. This allows the family member/caregiver time to run errands themselves or possibly make a much needed doctor visit or have lunch with a friend. Anyone interested in helping others could become a volunteer. Veterans are encouraged to call and learn more about volunteering and our Veteran- to-Veteran Volunteer Program.

Economic Opportunity & Income Mobility (Status Of The American Dream) ~ A Speech By William C. Dudley, Federal Reserve Bank of New York

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/12/2016 05:56 PM
New York, NY...Good morning. I am very pleased to speak at the 6th Annual Community Development Conference. I would like to give a special thanks to the Association for Neighborhood and Housing Development for organizing this conference about issues of importance to the community development industry and to the future of New York City. At the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, we develop a wide variety of research and data products to gain a deeper understanding of regional economic conditions. We track the health of household balance sheets at the state and local level using data from the New York Fed’s Consumer Credit Panel. We also conduct an annual poll of small businesses to understand their credit needs and credit availability. My meeting with you today is part of our continuing efforts to understand what is going on at the grassroots level of our economy and to share insights from the New York Fed.
