CCF Grant Will Help Make Murphys Community Park Children Safe |

Murphys, CA...A $15,000 grant from the Calaveras Community Foundation will make it possible for the heavily used children’s area of the Murphys Community Park to be repaired, made safe, and brought up to state standards. “Unknown people have vandalized the area and virtually destroyed the slides and climbing apparatus making them unsafe,” says Sue Friedman, president of the Murphys Community Club that has the responsibility for the upkeep and operation of the park. “This generous grant will allow us to restore the equipment and buy new swings. It will also pay for installing several tons of wood chips in the area as mandated by the state.”

San Andreas, CA...For the appointment of Sheriff this special meeting is being held so the Board of Supervisors may conduct a public interview of the five (5) candidates. All of the candidates have submitted their application packets, meet the requirements to occupy the position of Sheriff and have participated in first round interviews by a ranking committee made up of law enforcement professionals.

First Quarter GDP 0.5% As Economy Stays In Holding Pattern |

Washington, DC...Real gross domestic product -- the value of the goods and services produced by the nation’s economy less the value of the goods and services used up in production, adjusted for price changes -- increased at an annual rate of 0.5 percent in the first quarter of 2016, according to the "advance" estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the fourth quarter, real GDP increased 1.4 percent.
