Sickness Unto Death Part IV: Dollars and Sense - In Sickness and Health ~ By John MacWillie, Ph.D.

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/03/2017 11:50 PM
Murphys, CA...We pay more for our health care -- in some cases, twice as much as countries like France. Is it worth it? There can be no argument, however you want to analyze health care delivery and the value of outcomes, the American health care system is significantly more expensive than any other comparable system in the world. The US spends $9451 per person on health care. That is 121% more than citizens of Japan spend on health care. (OECD 2015). The next nearest country to the United States, in terms of health care spending, is Norway which spends $6567 per capita. In other words, the U.S. spends far, far more than other nations -- and on a few very important measures is performing nowhere as well.

Sacramento, CA...With a critical vote from the California State Senate today, the universal healthcare train is moving forward in California. On a 23 to 14 vote, the California Senate put their stamp of approval on SB 562, a Medicare for all-type/single payer bill that would bring the dream of guaranteeing health care to all Californians – without the devastating out of pocket costs that force millions to skip needed care even if they are already paying premiums to insurance companies.

Tree Mortality Crews We Salute You!! State Has Lost Over 100 Million Trees Since 2010

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/02/2017 08:16 AM
Arnold, CA...In the last few months many of us have witnessed the crews working on removing thousands of dead trees from our area. While it is sad to see so many trees no longer with us it has also been pretty amazing to see the skill and just plain bravery of many of these crews. The shot below is typical of what many of them have done. They are taking out a tree that is only a few feet from live power lines and a home.  They cannot cut it down they have to take it out branch by branch and section by section.  Thank You crews!!!  The latest data from the state(enclosed) says we have lost 102,000,000 trees since 2010.

And yes there is a man at the top of this tree! Taking it out limb by limb! Amazing!
