Median Household Income Climbs to New Record of $59,039 According to Census Bureau

Washington, DC...The U.S. Census Bureau announced today that real median household income increased by 3.2 percent between 2015 and 2016, while the official poverty rate decreased 0.8 percentage points. At the same time, the percentage of people without health insurance coverage decreased. Median household income in the United States in 2016 was $59,039, an increase in real terms of 3.2 percent from the 2015 median income of $57,230. This is the second consecutive annual increase in median household income.

Reconstruction Begins for Pinecrest Day Use Area Parking and Roads

Pinecrest, CA...A Forest Service contractor began reconstructing the Pinecrest Day Use Area parking area and roadways today. Contractor KW Emerson of San Andreas, California, will reconstruct Lot 2, the parking area adjacent to the Pinecrest Lake Resort snack shack in this first phase of the project. “This is a multi-season project,” said Tim Hughes, Stanislaus National Forest’s chief engineer. “Work will halt during winter as needed due to weather and in summer we will shut down work to allow the public to use the affected areas during the recreation season.” The work will continue during spring and fall construction periods through May 2019, Hughes said.

Washington, DC...We evaluated the Bureau of Reclamation’s (USBR’s) financial assistance agreements for the State of California’s Bay Delta Conservation Plan (BDCP) to determine whether USBR fully disclosed to the U.S. Congress and other stakeholders the cost of its participation in BDCP efforts, whether USBR had legal authority to convert funds from reimbursable to nonreimbursable purposes, and whether USBR expended funds in accordance with its legal authority for its financial assistance agreements.
