Tax Rate on Gasoline Reduced Right Before July 4 Weekend

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/28/2016 04:29 PM
Sacramento, CA...The California State Board of Equalization (BOE) announces that the state excise tax on gasoline will drop by 2.2 cents per gallon on July 1, 2016. This will lower the excise tax rate from 30 cents to 27.8 cents per gallon for the 2016-17 fiscal year, effective July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2017. “Californians have another reason to celebrate during Independence Day weekend,” said BOE Member Runner. “This gas tax rate cut comes right on time for those hitting the road during the holiday.”

Angels Camp, CA...New Melones Lake Marina hosted the June Calaveras Chamber Mixer and used the event to show off their expanded fleet and facilities as they power their way into their second season under ownership of the Mills Family. Highlighting their new offerings is a brand new 60ft Party Boat. This boat is almost ship sized and has full kitchen, restrooms, showers, seating, water slides & everything you need to host an entire group for a day or weekend event. When speaking with owner Darrin Mills he highlighted some of the advantages of the new craft. It is a great blend of traditional houseboat amenities and features with ease of use and carefree waterproof materials.

Prime Minister David Cameron On The UK Leaving EU & Leaving Office

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/24/2016 08:28 AM
London, UK...The country has just taken part in a giant democratic exercise – perhaps the biggest in our history. Over 33 million people – from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Gibraltar – have all had their say. We should be proud of the fact that in these islands we trust the people with these big decisions. We not only have a parliamentary democracy, but on questions about the arrangements for how we are governed, there are times when it is right to ask the people themselves, and that is what we have done.

Union Congregational Church to host local Cancer Moonshot Summit - June 29th

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/24/2016 11:12 AM
Angels Camp, CA...The following is comments from Karen Rojas addressing the City Council on the Summit. "Even though it’s not on the agenda, thank you for allowing me to have 3 minutes to speak on a grave matter that does affect Angels Camp. I cannot imagine that there is a single person in this room whose life or that of a loved has not been impacted by cancer. President Nixon declared the War on Cancer back in the 70s and although there have been successes, the Standard of Care - surgery, radiation, and chemo - has not “cured” cancer. If it was 1 in a 1,000 40 years ago and will soon be 1 in 5, it’ll hit 1 in 2 for our grandchildren. For decades, cancer has baffled scientists and experts around the globe, claiming over 8 million lives worldwide in 2012 alone. Numbers of newly-diagnosed cancer cases are expected to rise by 70% over the next 20 years.

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/24/2016 01:39 PM
New York, NY...The Dow bounced just a bit off it's low before settling again before the bell to close down 610 points on the day. The drop was precipitated by the United Kingdom voting to exit from the European Union. The breakup my take up to two years but the initial financial shock was reflected today. On some financial indicators Britain is performing better than the EU in general.
