GDP-3.2% in 4th Quarter |

Washington, DC...Real gross domestic product -- the output of goods and services produced by labor and property located in the United States -- increased at an annual rate of 3.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2010, (that is, from the third quarter to the fourth quarter), according to the "advance" estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Sonora, CA.....Economic Development Director Larry Cope announced today that the new TCEDA Small Business Center is open and will provide a private meeting and a conference training room for business consultants from the Business Alliance of Tuolumne County and other partners. Through the Business Alliance, four business consultants from the Alliance SBDC, and over 13 active SCORE consultants met with 350 new small business clients in 2010. “There was a real need for professional office space for confidential client meetings. “Office space for consultants to meet with their clients was extremely limited, this new small business center will solve that problem,” explains Cope.....

Washington, DC...Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in December confirms that the economic recovery is continuing, though at a rate that has been insufficient to bring about a significant improvement in labor market conditions. Growth in household spending picked up late last year, but remains constrained by high unemployment, modest income growth, lower housing wealth, and tight credit. Business spending on equipment and software is rising, while investment in nonresidential structures is still weak. Employers remain reluctant to add to payrolls. The housing sector continues to be depressed. Although commodity prices have risen, longer-term inflation expectations have remained stable, and measures of underlying inflation have been trending downward...

SACRAMENTO – California’s unemployment rate increased to 12.5 percent in December, and nonfarm payroll jobs increased by 4,900 during the month, according to data released today by the California Employment Development Department (EDD) from two separate surveys. The U.S. unemployment rate decreased in December to 9.4 percent. In December 2009, the unemployment rate in California was 12.3 percent. The unemployment rate is derived from a federal survey of 5,500 California households... |
