The Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) Announces Competitive Grant Cycle for 2014

Angels Camp, CA....In 2013, Calaveras Community Foundation introduced the idea of focusing on initiatives for grant giving. The two initiatives chosen were: Aging in Place for Seniors and Support for Learning of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The results, based on the number of viable applications received were gratifying. In 2014, those same two initiatives will still be in place with the addition of a third: County Youth – designed to foster youth development in extra-curricular activities for ages K-12. An additional change in the 2014 grant processing cycle is an earlier submission period for all grants applications. Applications will begin to be accepted on March 1, 2014 and must be submitted to CCF by 5:00 PM on Friday, March 31, 2014. As in 2013, ALL applications for competitive grants MUST address one of the three initiatives to be considered for funding. Complete details, application guidelines and fillable forms are now available on the website www.calaverascommunityfoundation.org in the “Grants and Scholarships” area....

Destination Angels Camp Adds 4 New Corporate Sponsors

Angels Camp, March 1, 2014: - Destination Angels Camp Development Corporation has added four more local companies to its Community Advisory Council: Gold Electric, Round Table Pizza, Collins Development and The Chicken Barn. The Advisory Council now has 18 companies and individuals that have agreed to sponsor Destination Angels Camp’s activities with a minimum of $1,000 a year for three years for a total to date of $22,000 a year....

ACBA Announces New Board And Officers

Angels Camp, March 1, 2014:- The Angels Camp Business Association (ACBA) has installed three new board members and elected its officers for 2014. ACBA President Sherri Smith announced that Jenny Baxter, Pat Gulyas and Brett Keller have been elected to 2-year terms on the board of directors. Once the new board members were installed, the full board elected its officers to serve until June 30th 2015. Continuing in their positions are President Sherri Smith, owner of CAMPS Restaurant, and Secretary Pam Kulm. New officers are Jenny Baxter, vice president, and Anne Forrest, treasurer. The board also agreed on a new slogan for the Association: “Active Community Businesses Aligned for a Better Angels Camp.”

California Family Discovers Buried Treasure – Hidden Cache of 19th Century U.S. Gold Coins May Be Most Valuable Hoard Unearthed in North America

The treasure was found by a couple on their property while taking their dog on its daily walk. Golf Tournament Benefits Free Mobile Clinic

Sonora, CA...Sonora Regional Medical Center’s 18th Annual Golf Classic will be held on Wednesday, June 11 at Saddle Creek Resort in Copperopolis. All proceeds from the tournament go toward funding Sonora Regional Medical Center’s Project HOPE, a free mobile health clinic serving people in the community who typically do not have health insurance.
