Arnold, CA...What ideas do you have to attract more business to Arnold or to help GABA members be more successful? The focus of the January meeting will be the planning of projects and events for 2013. Everyone in the community is invited to share ideas and participate....
Mokelumne Hill, CA...Last Monday night the historic Hotel Leger was overflowing with community members and goodwill. The occasion was the premier of the Travel Channel's Hotel Impossible episode where the the recent makeover of the Leger was chronicled. Anthony Melchiorri veteran Hotelier and his crew suggested improvements and coordinated the makeover. This truly became a community event not only for the premier of the episode but also many of them had rolled up their sleeves and made the project happen. From former Supervisor Steve Wilensky who helped rally the community to Structural Engineer Terrance Weatherby who helped shepherd the project through the planning and building departments at the county to those who manned the brushes, hammers, brooms, mops, ladders and more to get the Hotel Leger ready for it's national audience and the next chapter in it's life...

SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans Available to California Small Businesses

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Small, nonfarm businesses in 30 California counties are now eligible to apply for low‑interest federal disaster loans from the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA). “These loans offset economic losses because of reduced revenues caused by the drought that began on January 1, 2012, in the following primary counties,” announced Alfred E. Judd, Director of SBA’s Disaster Field Operations Center-West....

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Visitors Bureau (CVB) has announced that it will provide $2,000 in scholarships this year to area high school students as part of its new Travel Writing Scholarship program. The scholarship opportunity is available to seniors at both Bret Harte and Calaveras High Schools who plan on attending a 2- or 4-year college/university within one year of graduating...

General membership meetings are held on the second Monday of each month. Join us on Monday January 14 at 6:00 PM at the Ebbetts Pass Fire Station on Blagen Road. Floriculture Building at Frogtown Has a New Roof!!

Frogtown, CA...Thanks to the Friends of the Fair and local contractor Micah Rolleri, the Floriculture Building has a new roof. The Roof had been deteriorating for years and was no longer weather proof. Fair CEO Giannini went to the Friends and expressed her concerns about the roof. The Friends took action and hired Rolleri to not just repair the roof but replace it. A new metal roof now tops the Floriculture Building. The building now can be rented year around and also store the Fair’s equipment.
Bob Trinchero To Serve Again as Fair Board President

Frogtown, CA...Bob Trinchero has been re-elected as president and Talibah Al-Rafiq will serve as vice president of the 39th District Agricultural Association, the Calaveras County Fair board, in 2013.“The board felt appreciative and confident of what we had done last year and felt it was best to keep the same officers in place,” Al-Rafiq said. Other board members include Gay Callan, Kathy Campbell, Evan Garamendi, Gloria Grimes, Darren Mills and Steve Wooster.

Arnold, CA...We are looking for 500 families to bring your offspring and your jobs here! Why? Great Schools, Lower Home Costs, Great Communities, 35 Wineries, Snow Skiing, Mountain Biking, Hiking, Cross Country Skiing, Golf, Concerts, Snowmobiling, Water Skiing, Fishing, Wine Tasting and of course Frog Jumping. To top it off is what we don't have...traffic lights. There are only 4 traffic lights (Updated...I forgot about the one between Bret Harte and the parking lot on Murphys Grade Road) in all of Calaveras County...
