ARB To Consider "Good Faith Efforts" For Diesel Fleet Operators |

San Andreas, CA...On October 8, 2013, the Calaveras County Air Pollution Control Board sent a letter to Governor Brown addressing their concerns associated with the unintended economic consequences associated with the Air Resources Board (ARB) Truck and Bus On-Road In-Use Regulation. The Board outlined several options for ARB consideration in providing short term relief to rural areas. On October 17, 2013, the Mountain Counties Air Basin Control Council representing the Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District and Placer, El Dorado, Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne and Mariposa Air Pollution Control Districts, sent a letter to ARB requesting similar relief. As a result of these requests, in addition to requests from other Districts in California, ARB is considering providing some relief from the regulation. The ARB press release is as follows:

Sacramento, CA... Covered California™ released updated numbers showing that consumer interest in the agency’s health insurance marketplace and Medi-Cal remained strong. During the week ending Nov. 16, more than 476,000 unique visits were made to its website, CoveredCA.com, created jointly with the California Department of Health Care Services. In addition, more than 70,000 calls — the largest weekly total to date — were logged by the Covered California Service Center....

San Andreas, CA....At noon today the judicial leadership from the Calaveras County Superior Court, the Judicial Council of the State of California and the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), along with local elected and appointed officials, dedicated the newly constructed Calaveras County Courthouse, The push for the facility started 30 years ago when Judge Douglas V. Mewhinney saw hardened criminals in unsafe conditions with the general public in the operation of the court. Some operational changes have enhanced the safety over the years but structural deficiencies in the current court building have had Judge Mewhinney and others remark that we have been lucky to have not had a serious safety incident. The new courthouse will open to the public on Monday, November 25, 2013....

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Visitors Bureau (CVB) announced several new initiatives at its recent Annual Dinner that will benefit its members, including a locals’ incentive program called Frog Play, an interactive map at GoCalaveras.com, as well as a partnership with mobile website creator, mobiManage, that will allow members to develop their own mobile websites at an affordable monthly rate. Frog Play, which had a soft launch at the CVB’s Annual Dinner, is a program designed to provide locals who reside in Calaveras, Tuolumne and Amador Counties with incentives to visit CVB member businesses, while at the same time, creating more foot-traffic and customers for those members....
