Seattle, WA...Alaska Airlines and Virgin America today shared their vision for the future of the combined carrier, as the company solidifies its status as the West Coast's premier airline. After careful consideration, the combined company will adopt Alaska's name and logo, retiring the Virgin America name likely sometime in 2019. However, the combined airline will adopt many of the brand elements that Virgin America enthusiasts love about their favorite airline, including enhanced in-flight entertainment, mood lighting, music and the relentless desire to make flying a different experience for guests. The goal is to create a warm and welcoming West Coast-inspired vibe.
Copperopolis, CA...In 1895 James A. Tower was only 16 years old when, using barbed wire fencing, he strung the first telephone line for what was to become The Calaveras Telephone Company. As demands for the telephone service increased, the young Mr. Tower found it necessary to establish a central office in the small community of Felix near the town of Copperopolis. Then in 1899, Mr. Tower, now 20 years old, negotiated an agreement with Sunset Telephone Company that would connect his subscribers by telephone with the rest of the world.

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center is one of only 21 facilities across the nation – and, the only one in California – to be named a Top Rural Hospital of 2016 by The Leapfrog Hospital Survey. This independent, nonprofit hospital watchdog organization recognizes excellence in patient safety and quality care. In addition, MTMC is currently ranked in a tie for second place in Dignity Health’s No Harm Campaign, an ongoing quality care and patient safety ranking among its 39 hospitals nationwide. Mountain Ranch, CA...Another successful home building project -- full of teamwork, sweat and love! After 18 months of living out of her camp trailer since the Butte Fire leveled her home in 2015, Mary Sacks walked 20 feet across a makeshift sidewalk of wooden pallets into her brand new home constructed entirely by volunteers. On Tuesday, Sack's modest home was formally dedicated by members of the Mennonite Disaster Services who had travelled from throughout Canada and the Northwest to help build Sack's home. About 40 people participated in the Bible readings, hymn and presentation of a handmade, heart-shaped quilt, and bible.

CCWD Completes Repairs & Water Service Restored in Copperopolis

Copperopolis, CA...After the completion of a planned leak repair on Copper Cove Drive, Calaveras County Water District crews restored water service to about 200 residential customers and 20 businesses in Copperopolis at around 10:30 a.m. The detour has been lifted that was in effect on Copper Cove Drive during the repair work.
