Hello to all you fishermen, ready and eager to get fishing. Sierra stream fishing opens Saturday, April 26, 2008. Access to the Stanislaus River will be limited to Calaveras Big Trees State Park and Boards Crossing Road in Dorrington. The Gate to Beaver Creek through Sourgrass crossing should be open by then. NCPA anticipates having Spicer open by Memorial weekend, depending on the snowmelt and weather. For an update on the road to Spicer you can call 209-728-1387. Alpine still has quite a bit of snow around it. Hobart Creek is not open until JULY 1ST 2008!.....

Murphys, CA...In Addition the the great shots Hanna Heath took of Little League Opening Day, we also stopped by the venues and took a bit of video as the season gets underway. The Ebbetts Pass Little League kicked off their season at Feeney Park in Murphys on Saturday morning. The place was buzzing with activity as the kids started swinging. It also seemed a bit like a neighborhood block party as all the familiar faces are back together for another season...

Bear Valley, CA...Mostly sunny skies today with another wave of unsettled weather headed our way starting Tuesday afternoon thru Tuesday night. This storm system will dig a little more south than the last couple of storms bringing a better chance of snow...Keep your fingers crossed! April is also "Learn to Ski and Board" Month with some great specials on lesson packages for the entire family! Full Snow report enclosed....

Calaveras American Little League~ By Hanna Heath

Angels Camp, CA….One hundred and eighty little league players participated in the annual Calaveras American Little League Opening Ceremony, Saturday morning. The league has participants from the Mark Twain School District. Children as far as copper play in the Calaveras League. The teams started their season last week and will continue to play through June first….

Angels Camp, CA....The Bret Harte swim team has been trying their hardest with their facility and the amount of swimmers on the team this year. Even though they have lost several meets they have been swimming hard with great spirit and bliss. They will keep swimming until they can't swim anymore. Bear Valley, CA....Bear Valley Cross Country will host "Tom's Classic Cross Country Ski Race" this Saturday, April 5th at 10am. This is a very popular and fun filled day! This race is a 10K Classic Only (no ski skating) cross country ski race. Enjoy the great spring skiing conditions by attending this fun race, open to all ages and abilities. Last year's winner was Scott Fairman, a former Bear Valley resident now of Lake Tahoe. Bear Valley Cross Country's tentative closing date for the 2007-08 ski season is Sunday, April 20th, so there are plenty of great ski days left for everyone!
