Murphys, CA.... For over 20 years the Murphys Dolphins swim team holds the energetic "Fun Meet" to prepare the young swimmers for their upcoming competitions. The annual meet is held at the Ebbetts Pass Memorial Pool in Murphys. 69 swimmers from the Highway 4 corridor from Copperopolis to Bear Valley participated in the meet yesterday. Of the 69, children 10 are 6 years old and under. There was a total of 72 swimming events including freestyle, breast stroke....

Calaveras County Deputy Sheriff's Association Announces Endorsement of Trinitas Project....With Video Enclosed. (Open Comments Closed)

Valley Springs, CA....After much consideration the Calaveras County Deputy Sheriff’s Association is pleased to announce the organization is endorsing the Trinitas project. The DSA made the announcement Friday evening during the Valley Springs Area Business Association mixer. DSA President Tracy Busby told those in attendance the DSA understands the lean economic times the County faces and believes the Ridge at Trinitas could help generate a much needed boost to the County coffers as well as other businesses in the County with little impact to County services or infrastructure.....

Lake Alpine is still producing some big rainbows. The dock is now in and the fishing is excellent. Make sure to call ahead as it does get very windy there. Trollers should try Apex, Needlefish, and Rapala's behind a small dodger tipped with a nightcrawler or try a flasher/nightcrawler combo. The Lodge will be open and they will be renting cabins. You can contact the lodge at 209-753-6358. Fly fishermen should try woolly buggers, flying ants, and sparrow nymphs. Bank fishermen should try nightcrawlers, Gulp Power Bait, Gulp Nightcrawlers, floating Power Eggs,and salmon eggs. Lure casters should try Kastmasters, Panther Martin spinners, and Rooster Tails.....

Team Will, a non-profit Sacramento-based group cyclists, whose mission it is to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer research, just embarked on its second 10-day “Ride To Reach The Day” from S.F. to D.C. with full medic and SAG support. ThePineTree Pedaler, Brett Loring who did the ’06 Ride from S.F. to Virginia, rode 115 miles of Shift 2 on Monday from the rally at the Capitol to Truckee in Team Will’s June 16-26 ride.....

Calaveras County, CA....Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,321,171 acre-feet of water. The lake water level dropped one foot last week and is at 983 ft. above sea level and 105 ft. from full capacity. Water in the main lake is approximately 74-77 degrees. All ramps are in the water. Angels Boat Ramp is the shallowest ramp. It will come out of the water and be unusable (which often happens in the summer) when the water level drops below 975 ft. above sea level....

White Pines, CA...You know you are a kayaker when you can't go over a bridge without looking for water under it. ~Unknown Author. The eleventh annual Kayak Festival took the water this weekend at White Pines Lake in Arnold. SNAC hosted a fun filled day on the water with kayak rides, kayak demonstrations, food, and a raffle. Over 65 people signed up for the event and wanted to feel the water beneath them while riding some of the high quality kayaks in our area. SNAC had their boats ready and waiting for all of the eager paddlers staring at 10am........

Angels Camp, CA....Bret Harte offered their 17th annual Boys Basketball clinic, one of the premier camps in Calaveras County. The students had personalized instruction by Mr. Rucker who has many years of coaching experience. Team members from the Bret Harte Basketball team also assisted Rucker during the four day clinic. The clinic started on Tuesday June 9th and ran through June 12th. The clinic focused on....

Arnold, CA....The Sequoia Woods Women's Golf Club and Bret Harte High School Girl's Golf Club is Co-Hosting Free Girl's High School Golf Clinics. "For High School Sports-Girls. Interested girl's entering High School, especially incoming Freshman are encouraged to attend. Even if you are not planning to try out for the golf team, even if you are playing another sport. The first Clinic will be held Wednesday, June 25th at 11am at Sequoia Woods Country Club in Arnold. The reason for these Clinics is to provide greater accessibility to the game of golf for girls.
