San Andreas, CA....Although Calaveras was not the victor in Friday night’s bout against Hilmar, they can take great pride in the fact that they played a fantastic game – and played it much better than they did against this same team last year. The game started out looking as if things were going remarkably well for Calaveras. In the first 20 seconds of the game, CHS Junior, Chris Ussery, grabbed hold of Hilmar’s kickoff at the 8 yard line and ran the ball back a full 92 yards for a touchdown. ....

What a weekend. Our first snow storm this past weekend closed Ebbetts Pass Saturday night. It re-opened Sunday morning. Since it has cooled down the fishing has been excellent. Lake Alpine has been producing some beautiful rainbows this past week. The ramp is almost out of the water, so if you have a large boat it will be very tough to launch without doing damage to your boat and trailer.....

Angels Camp, CA...The Day will start off with the Bret Harte Homecoming parade at the high school at 1:45pm moving downtown around 2:10pm.....Then at 7pm.....The Bret Harte Bullfrogs are looking forward to this week's Homecoming game in more ways than one. First and foremost this will be their first game on the brand new, state of the art turf, that is now adorning the field. Second, it will also be a great reward for their stellar play on the road and in their last "Home" game they played in Sonora. We would also like to thank Scott Soracco for helping us bring you the play by play for tonight's homecoming game. We will also be bringing the melodious tones of stadium announcer Michael Goldberg
The 2009 Homecoming Queen is Brianna Huse. Congratulations Brianna. The Frogs will start their second half down 14-0 to Ripon. Let's see what adjustments the coaches made at the half...

Stockton, CA....The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League and Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, has agreed to contract terms with left wing Garet Hunt, Thunder head coach Matt Thomas announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Hunt, 21, was last year's co-recipient of the Thunder "Fan Favorite" award and ranked second in the ECHL with a team record-breaking 248 penalty minutes. He is the seventh returning player from last year's team that finished 22-16-3 after Dec. 31, advancing to the seventh game of the second round (Pacific Division Final) of the Kelly Cup Playoffs....

Fall is upon us and the fishing has been hot. Lake Alpine has been producing some beautiful rainbows this past week. Bait casters should try Gulp Power Eggs, Gulp Power Bait, Floating Power Eggs, Gulp Night-crawlers, inflated night crawlers, and salmon eggs on a 24" to 30" leader using a sliding sinker. Lure casters should try Kastmaster's, Panther Martin spinners, and Rooster Tails. Trollers should try the new Wild Thing from Crystal Basin Tackle, this.....

Sonora, CA...We are coming to you live from Dunleavy Field in Sonora Tonight. This a Bret Harte "Home" game as their new field gets completed. JV Unfortunately dropped their game. Announcing will be handled tonight by the Stadium announcer Michael Goldberg. Bret Harte leads 12-7 with 5 minutes left in the half. At the half in San Andreas, Bear River is up over the Skins 3-0. Calaveras drops their game 0-9 to Bear River. (Update as of 10:20pm...With 10:44 left in the game Bret Harte trails 18-28. Central Valley Takes 35-32 in a very good game. REPLAY ENCLOSED.....
San Andreas, CA...Calaveras lost a tough low scoring game to Bear River on Friday night. It was another of those bruising non-league games to get them ready for this year's Mother Lode League title chase. This week they travel to Ceres to take on the Bulldogs.
