Two Calaveras Jr. Redskins teams made it to the 2009 Super Bowl played at Amador High School. Both fought to the end, but unfortunately, only one came home with a victory. VARSITY: Once again the Calaveras Jr. Redskins Varsity team returned from the Super Bowl with a giant victory. Because of their exceptional record, the Jr. Reds’ domination over the Jr. Cowboys was practically expected by the Red’s team and their fans, but the win was a fantastic thrill none the less.....

Angels Camp, CA...With the Varsity Squad decimated by injuries the focus fell on the Junior Varsity squad as they turned in another exciting win. Girls volleyball is definitely a highlight of the Calaveras High School fall sports program. As with all the sport programs at CHS, volleyball features some of the brightest, hardest-working student athletes our area has to offer. On November 3, 2009, the CHS varsity girls volleyball team showed us once again why they deserve our admiration as they played against the Linden Lions at Linden High School. The Redskins won their matches 3 sets to 1, with scores of 23-25, 25-17, 25-19 and 25-23.....

Murphys, CA...Last week Bear Valley Resort invited the local business community to attend their kickoff meeting where they laid out their plans for this season. Ironstone Vineyards played host to the event. The snow may still be a few weeks away but they are ready to go and provide world class, family entertainment here in our backyard. BV's Marketing Director Rosie Sundell led the presentation that featured a range of speakers from BV CEO Martin Wegenstein, GM Jim Gentling, Mountain Manager Jon Mahanna, HR Director Andrea Young Bear Vally Lodge General Manager Mark Phillips. Also featured were partner businesses in the Bear Valley community like Bear Valley Cross Country and Adventure Company, Mountain Adventure Seminars, Bear Valley Snowmobile and more. One of the memorable moments when Jon Mahanna was talking about one of the new features for the terrain park this season....

Jr. Redskin Varsity and Bantam teams advance to the Super Bowl~ By Tammy Beilstein

On October 31st the Jr. Redskins took part in the second round of Playoff games. The Varsity and Bantam teams played at Sonora High School while the JV team played at Argonaut High School. Sadly, the JV team had a rough go of it and found themselves on the losing side of the score - But the Jr. Redskins are not done with their season yet as the Varsity and Bantam teams each walked away from their respective games with wins and an invitation to the Super Bowl....
