Amidst Widespread Risk Level, Amador Educators Fighting for School Safety |

Amador County, CA... Scott Hunkins, President of the Amador County Teachers Association (ACTA), with the support of the classified unit led by Theresa Cramer, released the following statement on behalf of ACTA educators after hearing the Amador County Health Officer, Dr. Kerr, inform the Amador County Board of Supervisors that case rates are becoming more widespread. With this information, ACTA is requesting an emergency meeting with the Board and Amador County Unified School District (ACUSD) management to avoid a premature reopening date of Monday, November 16.

Arnold, CA...Temps will remain cool this week and another weak system is heading our was. Every drop and every snowflake counts though. The detailed forecasts for West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada and for the Mother Lode are below. Today Mostly sunny. Not as cool. Highs 36 to 51 higher elevations...46 to 56 lower elevations. Prevailing northeast winds up to 10 mph shifting to the southwest in the afternoon. Tonight Mostly clear. Lows 18 to 33 higher elevations...30 to 38 lower elevations. Prevailing south winds up to 10 mph shifting to the southeast after midnight.

Amador County Returns to COVID-19 Red Tier after 27 New Cases Confirmed |

Amador County, CA...Amador County Public Health confirms twenty seven new cases of COVID-19 in Amador since last Tuesday’s update. The new cases include 16 males and 11 females, 11 aged 18-49, 6 aged 50-64, 10 over 65 years of age; 9 residing in Ione, 3 living in Jackson, 1 living in Pine Grove, 6 in Pioneer, 3 in Plymouth/surrounding areas, 3 residing in Sutter Creek/Amador City, and 2 in Volcano. These additional cases are linked to household case clusters, congregate setting employees, out-of-state travel and community transmission. Three cases are currently hospitalized.

Bear Valley, CA...Heavy snow expected above 4000 feet. Plan on difficult travel conditions, especially Saturday night into Sunday over Sierra passes. For the Winter Weather Advisory, total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches above 5000 feet, with localized amounts up to 8 inches, are expected. For the Winter Storm Warning, total snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches above 4000 feet, with localized amounts up to 12 inches, are expected.
