Amador County, CA – Amador County Public Health confirms six new cases of COVID-19 in Amador since last Tuesday’s update. The new cases include 3 males and 3 females, 1 child under the age of 18, 1 aged 18-24, 3 aged 50-64, 1 over 65 years of age, 5 residing in Ione, and 1 residing in Sutter Creek/Amador City.

Mule Creek State Prison Investigating Inmate Death as a Homicide |

Ione, CA...Officials at Mule Creek State Prison (MCSP) are investigating the October 14 death of 46-year-old inmate Deandre Austin as a homicide. On Wednesday at 5:40 p.m., correctional officers responding to a call of “man down,” discovered an unresponsive Austin in his cell. Staff immediately called 911 and started life-saving measures.

Mexican Drug Cartel Grow Eradicated & Over $30,000 in Stolen Merchandise from Tractor Supply Recovered |

Pine Grove, CA...On October 1, 2020, members of the Amador County Combined Narcotics Task Force, along with Amador County Deputies and Amador County Probation Officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Pine Grove. During the search, they discovered an illegal marijuana cultivation site consisting of 448 marijuana plants along with a hidden firearm. The grow was being leased from the owner and tended to by the Mexican Cartel. During a search of the residence, deputies discovered numerous tools, clothing and miscellaneous items from a Tractor Supply Store. The majority of the items were still in the original packaging or still had the store tags on. The home owner, 55 year old Douglas Keeter of Pine Grove is an Assistant Manager of Tractor Supply in the City of Jackson.

Sonora, CA...Regional Forester Randy Moore extended Regional Order 20-18, Emergency Fire Restrictions, extending fire restrictions for all California national forests due to the extreme fire danger through Oct. 14. A copy of the updated Regional Order 20-21 will be posted on the Stanislaus National Forest web page as soon as we receive it from the regional office.

36-year-old Jonathan Michael Andrus from Pine Grove Man Lost His Life in Fatal Motorcycle Collision on Hwy 108 (Update) |

Pinecrest, CA...On September 19, 2020 at approximately 1:30 PM, a 36-year-old Jonathan Michael Andru from Pine Grove, CA was riding a 2017 Aprilia motorcycle westbound on State Route 108 east of Clarks Fork Road at approximately 65 miles per hour. For unknown reasons, the rider lost control of his motorcycle and traveled off the north roadway edge of State Route 108. After leaving the roadway, both the motorcycle and rider traveled down and embankment, approximately 40-50 feet and struck a tree. Unfortunately, the rider succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Arnold, CA...PSPS Outages Continue for Many Communities East of Hwy 49. Along the Hwy 4 Corridor the PSPS Outages were moved up to just above Arnold starting at Big Trees and continuing all the way up through Bear Valley. Along the Hwy 49 Corridor in Calaveras Country Mountain Ranch surrounding areas, West Point and most of Hwy 26 above Mokelumne Hill. In Amador County most of the communities east of Hwy 49 are affected. Tuolumne County is entirely PSPS Free.
