PG&E Issues Weather ‘All Clear’ in Most Locations for Public Safety Power Shutoff Event

San Francisco, CA...Pacific Gas and Electric Company has begun patrols to inspect lines de-energized by the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) that started Sunday morning, Sept. 27, which affected about 65,000 customers in 16 counties. This follows the end of a severe weather pattern that included strong, dry winds coupled with elevated temperatures in portions of the Northern and Central Sierra region. Wind in de-energized areas due to PSPS were observed to include:

PG&E Scales Back Some PSPS Outages Due to Improved Weather Forecasts

San Francisco, CA...Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will continue to de-energize certain electrical lines as part of a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) due to a strong and dry wind event creating high fire risk. As communicated on Friday, the PSPS event will affect customers in portions of 16 counties, primarily in Northern and Central Sierra region, although the number of customers expected to be impacted has decreased by 27 percent due to favorable changes in forecast weather conditions.

Arnold, CA...The National Weather Service in Sacramento has elevated the weather warnings for our area from a Fire Weather Watch to a Red Flag Warning. This may also trigger a PSPS Event for our area for Sunday Evening with Power restoral time of 6pm on Monday.

Updated Weather Forecast for Dry, Offshore Wind Event Means PG&E Might Need to Proactively Turn Off Power for Safety in Portions of 15 Counties

San Francisco, CA...Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) continues to monitor a potentially strong and dry offshore wind event forecasted to start early Sunday morning and expected to last through Monday. Given the expected weather conditions, PG&E began its one-day advance notifications to customers in areas where PG&E may need to proactively turn power off for safety to reduce the risk of wildfire from energized power lines.

Full Closure of U.S. Highway 50 Continues Near Echo Summit For Road Construction

El Dorado County, CA...Caltrans is reminding motorists that a full closure of U.S. Highway 50 started at 3 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18 and continue for up to two weeks during major construction work on the Echo Summit Sidehill Viaduct. One-way traffic control is currently in effect at Echo Summit for the $14.1 million bridge replacement project. A full closure of the highway will begin Sept. 18 and is anticipated through Oct. 2 while seven precast, prestressed 96-foot bridge girders are installed. Weather or unexpected delays may prolong the closure beyond the initial two-week period.

Pine Grove Man Lost His Life in Fatal Motorcycle Collision on Hwy 108

Pinecrest, CA...On September 19, 2020 at approximately 1:30 PM, a 36-year-old male from Pine Grove, CA was riding a 2017 Aprilia motorcycle westbound on State Route 108 east of Clarks Fork Road at approximately 65 miles per hour. For unknown reasons, the rider lost control of his motorcycle and traveled off the north roadway edge of State Route 108. After leaving the roadway, both the motorcycle and rider traveled down and embankment, approximately 40-50 feet and struck a tree. Unfortunately, the rider succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
