Plan Ahead: What to Expect in 2021 When Visiting the Eldorado National Forest |

Placerville, CA...The Eldorado National Forest is busy getting ready for the upcoming visitor season. Exciting upgrades to many developed recreation sites are underway or have been recently completed by our partners Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) and El Dorado Irrigation District (EID). These companies manage reservoirs and support recreation facilities throughout the forest which are part of their licensed hydroelectric power generation projects. These projects provide water storage, renewable energy and a vast number of recreational opportunities. Many of these recreation facilities are operated by another partner, Royal Elk Park Management (REPM), a forest concessionaire that oversees and maintains multiple sites under a Special Use Permit. As you can see, along with forest recreation staff, there is a large team working to make your visit safe and enjoyable! Recreation site closures while improvements are being made, changes in user fees, and updates to the reservation system are important things visitors should know prior to their visit in 2021.

Angels Camp, CA...The latest schedule of road repairs and maintenance that will affect your travels in our area and as you travel. Locally crews will be working on many of our roadways. Below is Caltrans plans for repairs and maintenance on local roads. It shows the route, county, and location of the possible repairs. Weather and other factors can alter their schedule. Traffic Update....One Way Traffic Control During Maintenance on Hwy 88 |

Alpine County, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform maintenance work and employ one-way traffic control next week. Crews will work from Blue Lakes Road to Route 89 West from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. beginning Monday, April 26 through Friday, April 30, 2021. Motorists should expect 10-minute delays.

One-Way Traffic Controls on Hwy 16 During Maintenance Work |

Amador County, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will employ one-way traffic control next week while performing maintenance work. Crews will conduct drainage work from Greilich Road to State Route 124 from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. beginning Sunday, April 25 through Friday, April 30, 2021.
Motorists should expect 10-minute delays.

Major Injuries in Head on Collision on Hwy 49 Yesterday |

San Andreas, CA...On April 20, 2021, at approximately 1514 hours, Narciso F. Sanchez was driving his 1953 Chevy pickup northbound on SR-49 north of SR-12 approaching a Ford F150. Bryan D. Bowman was driving his Ford southbound on SR-49 north of SR-12, approaching the 1953 Chevy. Due to unknown reasons, Mr. Sanchez allowed his pickup to travel over the solid double yellow lines into the southbound lane, into the direct path of the F150. As a result the vehicles collided head on.
