Annual Prescribed Fire Operations to Begin Soon on the Eldorado National Forest |

Placerville, CA...With the change in weather the Eldorado National Forest will switch its focus from wildfires to prescribed burning as weather conditions and resources allow. Beginning in November, fire managers will continue with the annual prescribed burn program.

Caldor Fire 100 Percent Contained |

South Lake Tahoe, CA...The Caldor Fire has been declared 100 percent contained as of today, Oct. 21, 2021. Now that the fire has reached full containment, the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) is reevaluating closure areas outside of the fire perimeter and is working to reopen these areas as soon as possible.

Overnight Storm Closes Passes! Drive Carefully & Carry Chains |

Arnold, CA....Yesterday morning we drove over Ebbetts Pass and returned after Midnight over Hwy 88. With the storm door starting to crack open we hope for moisture's sake it was our last trip till spring. We we passed back over Carson Pass we were pushing over a foot of snow between Kirkwood & Silver Lake. More moisture is on the way later in the week as well. Maybe just maybe we can start putting another fire season in the rear view mirror. The latest road conditions are below....
