Arnold, CA...From the National Weather Service..."Pacific storm will bring periods of moderate to heavy snow to the mountains of Western Plumas county and the Northern Sierra Nevada this evening through Monday evening. Combined with strong wind at times, travel into the mountains is expected to be difficult. Dry weather forecast Tuesday." The full Winter Weather Advisory is below...

Arnold, CA...Caltrans has chain controls in effect from Ham's Station on up on Hwy 88, Arnold on up on Hwy 4 and Long Barn on up on Hwy 108. Hwy 120 is clear. Enjoy the late season powder and ski safe....

Richard Roger Thayer II, Marie Ann Leonetti Killed in Probable Murder Suicide by Jacob Jedidiah Thayer |

Pine Grove, CA...On Thursday April 12, 2018 at approximately 0305 hours the Amador County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a female subject reporting that her son had killed himself at her residence on Hilltop Street in Pine Grove. Sheriff’s Deputies responded and were on scene within two minutes. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the 60 year old female along with her 4 year old granddaughter who were waiting outside. Upon entry into the residence, deputies located 26 year-old Jacob Jedidiah Thayer; 27 year-old Marie Ann Leonetti; and 60 year-old Richard Roger Thayer II. All three were deceased and all had suffered gunshot wounds.

Winter Returns Briefly Tonight With Rain & Mountain Snow! |

Arnold, CA...From the National Weather Service...Mountain snow returns later today into early Thursday. A colder and wetter weather system will move into northern California today bringing accumulating snow to the mountains by this evening. Travelers over the higher mountain passes should be prepared for winter driving conditions tonight into Thursday. Snow levels are forecast to rapidly lower below the passes Wednesday night, eventually lowering to around 2500 feet in the Shasta County mountains to around 3000 feet over the Sierra. Accumulations from 6 inches to a foot of snow are possible over the Sierra passes with a dusting to around 3000 feet by Thursday, and several inches over the Shasta County mountains and the Coastal Range.

Amador FlyFishers Hosting Free Fly Fishing Faire April 22 |

Jackson, CA...Amador FlyFishers (AFF) will be hosting a free Fly Fishing Faire Sunday, April 22, from 10am to 2pm at Detert Park, 530 Highway 49, Jackson, California. There will be booths with club members demonstrating the use of the tools of the sport and answering questions to help attendees learn more about the wonderful sport of flyfishing. There will also be hands-on activities. Most importantly, AFF will be highlighting its Youth Program which targets junior high and high school age kids and provides good hands-on flyfishing classes.

Arnold, CA....The National Weather has issued an update on the Weather Changes for Interior Northern California this Week...A couple of Pacific weather systems will bring rain, mountain snow, breezy winds and colder temperatures to interior northern California this week. The first Pacific weather system will weaken at it moves inland today. This system will bring light rain mainly to the mountains in northern California, and locally breezy winds and cooler temperatures. Snow levels will generally remain above the Sierra Nevada passes.

Arnold, CA...From the National Weather Service for the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada. Today Sunny, warmer. Highs 54 to 69 higher elevations...66 to 74 lower elevations. Prevailing east winds up to 10 mph shifting to the south in the afternoon. Tonight Mostly clear in the evening then becoming mostly cloudy. Lows 36 to 51 higher elevations...48 to 54 lower elevations. Prevailing southeast winds up to 15 mph.
