Dirt Roads & Motorized Trails Open May 1st on the Eldorado National Forest - Other Closures Remain in Effect |

Placerville, CA...The seasonal closure of dirt roads and motorized trails in the Eldorado National Forest will be lifted beginning Friday, May 1st. However, damage could still occur from driving in wet areas and visitors will be responsible for any damage caused by inappropriate use. Due to melting snow, wet areas will be present in the forest for some time, especially at higher elevations. Many routes change in elevation over several miles. Visitors are encouraged to be aware of changes in the conditions of the roads they are using, and to adjust travel plans if they reach a wet section.

Arnold, CA...The latest forecast from the National Weather Service for the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada. Today Partly cloudy in the morning then becoming mostly cloudy. Highs 57 to 72 higher elevations...69 to 81 lower elevations. Prevailing southeast winds up to 10 mph shifting to the southwest in the afternoon. Tonight Mostly cloudy in the evening then clearing. Colder. Lows 33 to 48 higher elevations...47 to 57 lower elevations. Prevailing southwest winds up to 10 mph shifting to the southeast after midnight.

Pioneer, CA...Bruce Paul Botz, 89, Pioneer, California, passed away Monday, April 13, 2020, at his home. Bruce was born on March 17, 1931 in Berlin, Wisconsin to the late Arthur Louis and Esther Amanda (Englert) Botz, Sr. He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Barbara Diane (Scovil-McDonald) Thompson and brothers, Arthur Louis Botz, Jr., Richard John Botz and Robert Owen Botz.

Amador County, CA...The Amador County Public Health Department confirms four additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Amador County residents. At least one of these cases is a result of community transmission, meaning that this case is unrelated to travel and had no identifiable contact with a known case, indicating likely infection within our community.
