Amador County, CA – The Amador County Public Health Department confirms that contact investigations are underway related to two positive cases of COVID-19. These individuals are employed in Amador but do not reside within the county. During contact investigations all persons who were in close contact with a confirmed case are contacted, evaluated, and given further instructions. “These newly confirmed cases are an indication of the increasing circulation of the novel coronavirus in California, as expected, given the patterns in our state and region” says Dr. Rita Kerr, Amador County Health Officer.

Two Deceased & Three with Major Injures in Fatal Collision Near SR-16 & Welsh Pond Road |

Drytown, CA...Last night there was another horrific collision on our local roads that left 2 deseased & 3 more with major injuries. The following is from CHP Amador..."A collision occurred between a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze and a 2013 Volkswagen Passat on State Route 16, west of Welsh Pond Road. The collision left two persons deceased and three others with major injuries. The collision forced the closure of State Route 16 for several hours as emergency personnel investigated the scene. It is unknown at this time the cause of the traffic collision. It is also unknown if alcohol or drugs played a significant role in the collision."

Amador County, CA – With increasing cases statewide of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) Amador County Health Officer Dr. Rita Kerr has issued additional orders for Amador County. These orders serve to enhance measures already being taken to slow the spread and preserve critical health care capacity. “Our top priority is the health and safety of our community and we are reminding everyone of the importance of the Stay at Home Order,” says Dr. Rita Kerr, Amador County Health Officer. “Our residents, health care providers, employers, and lodging facilities all serve an important role in our local COVID-19 mitigation and response.”

California State Parks Block Vehicle Access to Additional Parks to Slow Spread of COVID-19 |

Sacramento, CA... California State Parks announced it is temporarily closing vehicle access to 59 additional state parks and beaches to avoid dangerous visitation surges and help prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). This brings the total number of state-operated parks and beaches closed to vehicle access to 98. A list of closures can be found online at www.parks.ca.gov/FlattenTheCurve.
