Valley Springs, CA...The Calaveras County Taxpayers Association took a tour and met with the Developers of the Trinitas Olive Orchards & Golf Course for several hours on Friday. They reached the conclusion that the Trinitas Project deserves their support. The CCTA is the second community organization to stand behind the project publicly in less than a week. Murphys, CA.... For over 20 years the Murphys Dolphins swim team holds the energetic "Fun Meet" to prepare the young swimmers for their upcoming competitions. The annual meet is held at the Ebbetts Pass Memorial Pool in Murphys. 69 swimmers from the Highway 4 corridor from Copperopolis to Bear Valley participated in the meet yesterday. Of the 69, children 10 are 6 years old and under. There was a total of 72 swimming events including freestyle, breast stroke....

Health Precautions Advised for Smoke in Air

San Andreas, CA...Smoke from the fires burning in Northern California is affecting parts of Calaveras County. This is resulting in poor air quality that can be harmful to residents, especially persons who are more sensitive to the effects of smoke. The Calaveras County Public Health Department and Air Pollution Control District are advising residents to take precautions to prevent exposure to wildfire smoke. All persons who can see or smell smoke, should avoid outdoor activities...

Our Board of Supervisors Will be Busy Bees on Tuesday Morning

San Andreas, CA.....Our Board of Supervisors have a busy Tuesday planned. They start off the meeting with some agenda items then move on to Budget Hearings. Some of the agenda items being discussed are a Resolution Item approving the first amendment of the Solid Waste Collection and Hauling Permit between Amador/Calaveras Disposal and Calaveras County; A Resolution Item amending the basis of funding and calculation for the Land Use Departments Designated Fund 54300000; A Resolution Item authorizing an extension of a subdivision agreement with CRV Enterprises, Inc for Olive Orchard Estates; A Resolution Item accepting as complete a portion of road improvements authorizing release of a portion of the security and amending subdivision agreement for Copper Hills; A Minute Order approving and authorizing Board Chair to sign the certification statement regarding approval of child care priorties for general child care and development funds and state preschools.
