Calaveras County, CA.......Mark Twain Union Board of Education will meet on Thursday August 13th at the Copperopolis Multipurpose Room. They will start the meeting off with an Open Session at 5:30pm, then move to Closed Session at 5:35pm. The Closed Session will consist of a conference with Labor Negotiator. Superintendent Employee Organization and Angels Copperopolis Educators; Reconvene to Open Session where they will discuss Approval of Resolution 2009/10 Early Retirement settlement agreement and general release of all claims for classified bargaining unit members; Board will also consider the approval in the matter of reduction in Certified Services or Programs and the Children's Internet Protection Act. Agenda is enclosed....

Calaveras County, CA...Leslie Rabeneau, a young woman and long time resident of Copperopolis was diagnosed with a rare and very aggressive form of cancer. Leslie is a fighter and her courageous battle is not over yet. She has a wonderful husband and children who need her. She has been receiving Chemo therapy treatments at Standford Medical Center for months. She get's breaks in between where she goes home to Copper if healthy enough to be spend time with her precious family. Leslie is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant in order to continue this battle. At first doctors thought she could only use bone marrow of a family member with the same parents. Her lovely sister, Teri Burke of Arnold found out she was not a match....
Copperopolis Area Business Association Offering A Wild and Crazy Eve of Pontooning and Raftup on Lake Tulloch!

Copperopolis, CA....To our CABA Members, Copperopolis Area Business Association (CABA) is once again offering the pontoon boat ride and raftup on Lake Tulloch for members and guests. This year's cruise is Tuesday, August 18, and begins at 5:30 from the Lake Tulloch docks. Folks should plan to bring a dish to share and a beverage of their choice. Once out on the Lake, the moored boats are tied together and gates opened, allowing people to visit from boat to boat. There is no charge for the trip, which ends at sunset. Reservations are required due to limited seating. Please respond early to get on the list....

Copperopolis, CA...On July 19, Cruisers celebrated National Ice Cream Day. "We served up lots and lots of FREE banana splits and sundaes. Quite a few of you came in and told us how the Sundae got its name. Kudos to those who felt the need to do the research - even though the answer was in one of my previous emails . Copperopolis, CA....Tony Nunes seems like your average all American kid, the natural good looks, the teen confidence, the good grades, but underneath all that average boy charm lay a 2008 2nd place overall winner in Jr. 13-15 Ski lites class World Finals held in Havasu City, Arizona. Thats right, World Finals. Tony competed against 18 other countries in 24 classes to achieve his title. This kid is no slouch....

The following is an excerpt from my book, “From Positive Test to Empty Nest.” One day after a horrible wind storm I went outside to see that our canvas gazebo had been destroyed. The canvas had been torn from the frame and ultimately the frame had broken. It seemed reasonable to me that a broken gazebo should be dismantled and put in our dumpster. I said this solution seemed reasonable to me, but a solution like that does not even exist in the minds of prepubescent boys and inquisitive teens......

Copperopolis, CA...While on a leisurely drive to drop off my mail at the Copperopolis post office this Saturday I was pleasantly surprised to find the street literally lined with motorcycles of all makes and models. I amazingly enough found one little spot in front of Cal Tel, I swooped in and grabbed my camera. After my initial glance around I realized it was not only the street that was full all the way from Reeds Turnpike to the Cal Fire Station, it was the parking lot at Calaveras Telephone, the parking lot at Union Mine Store front and back and every other imaginable nook and cranny that a motorcycle could possibly maneuver into. After wiping the 'kid in a candy store' look from my face I attempted to adopt the appearance of a seasoned journalist but was quickly detected as a newbie. The riders, however, took me under their wing and explained in layman's terms a Poker Run.....

It has been brought to our attention that a group of solicitors using an 800 number is soliciting funds from local businesses representing themselves as the Firefighters of Copperopolis. The Copper Firefighters Association DOES NOT solicit funds over the phone. Our donations come from the hard work of the Copper Fire Auxiliary and many generous individuals and businesses of the area...
