Murphys, CA... Today Isolated showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Tonight A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. West northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light and variable. Thursday A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. Light and variable wind becoming west southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon. Thursday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. West northwest wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable in the evening...

Fire Update...30 Acre Vegetation Fire in Copperopolis Area |

Copperopolis, CA...There is a probable lightning strike ignited vegetation fire in the Salt Springs area. It is in the 5 acre range and this time and more to follow. Update as of 9:57am Air Attack is now overhead and there are two fires along a ridgeline. One is a small one that the air tankers will try to knock out first and then the air and ground crews will work on the larger 30 acre at this time fire... Access to the fire is being made off of Rock Creek Road so please expect traffic and crews in the area... |

Fire Update....Salt Fire 100% Contained at 84 Acres |

Copperopolis, CA...13 Miles north of Copperopolis the largest of the lightening ignited fires is now 100% contained at 84 acres. Crews will remain on scene through the night and into the day tomorrow. Cooperating Agencies Copperopolis Fire, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Complete details enclosed...

Mark Twain Elementary Welcomes New Principal Kevin Triance ~By Charity Maness |

Angels Camp, CA...Principal Kevin Triance comes to Mark Twain School with a background in education dating back to 1996 where he began his educational career as a 2nd grade teacher at Val Verde Unified. Throughout his career he has taught at 2nd, 3rd, 7th and 8th grade levels covering subjects from general education to Algebra and Social Studies. By 2005 Triance became assistant Principal at Frazier Mountain High School but by the end of 2008 felt a need to work with students with different needs and backgrounds transferring to teach within the Los Angeles County Juvenile Youth Camps. Finally, 2012 brought Triance to Mark Twain from his last position held since 2010 as the Opportunity teacher, Athletic Director and Assistant Principal in Plumas County....

Calaveras Opens Season with Win. Bret Harte Big Over Gustine |

Calaveras County, CA...The Calaveras Redskins opened up the 2012-13 Season with a big 54-20 win over Yosemite in San Andreas on Friday Night. Bret Harte had a high scoring victory over Gustine 50 -12 on the road. In other MML action Summerville opened with a 37 -0 romp over Mariposa County on the road Thursday. Linden fell to Ripon on the short end of a 47 -7 Score.

Copperopolis, CA...Crews are working a vegetation fire in the Copperopolis area. More to follow.. As of this time the fire is approximately 20 acres and they have the upper hand as the are releasing air assetts. The fire is in the Hwy 4 and OByrnes Ferry area
