Copperopolis 150 Year Celebration Being Planned!

Copperopolis, CA....The Copperopolis 150 Year celebration planning meeting was held last evening. The meeting was led by Linda Beck at the Copperopolis Community Center board members. There were about 60 people in attendance. The 150 year celebration will take place on Saturday June 5th and will replace the 2010 Homecoming Parade. The purpose of the meeting was to gather ideas from the community regarding the theme and staging of the events. They met in teams of about 6 and listed those things they would like to see incorporated in the event. Each team then shared their ideas with the group. There were a LOT of GREAT ideas...such as.....

Copperopolis, CA....The Modesto Police Department held a K-9 training at Copperopolis Fire Department on Wednesday. The team of highly trained K-9's were put through their paces reinforcing their bark and hold training, their extreme talent as narcotic dogs, tracking and water bites. Water bites?The Modesto Police K-9 Unit is operates within the Operations Bureau of the police department. It currently consists of 13 highly trained K-9's, 7 of these canines are cross trained and one is solely for drug detection. Cross-Trained dogs are K-9 teams which are trained to do both Patrol Dog functions and Drug Detection Dog functions....

Copperopolis, CA....August 23, 2009, After a grueling 12 days fighting the wild land fires in the Santa Cruz mountains, our firefighters are finally heading home. With over 7800 acres burned, 13 outbuildings destroyed, and multiple evacuations, our firefighters had their hands full. Calaveras County sent a mutual aid strike team consisting of five wild land teams from around the county.....

Dr. Tony Halat Joins Active Medical Staff

Tony Halat, M.D. has joined the active medical staff at Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital and will practice medicine at the Family Medical Center in Copperopolis. Specializing in General Internal Medicine, Dr. Halat will be treating the adolescent through geriatric population for the full spectrum of medical concerns. His special interests include preventative medicine, hypertension, diabetes and holistic medicine. “I am very pleased to be a part of such a premier organization” said Dr. Halat. “The lifestyle of the area and the medical needs of the Copperopolis population are inter-related. Copperopolis, CA...Crews are responding to a solo vehicle accident on Hwy 4 just west of Pool Station Road. CHP reports that it is non-injury but please use caution in the area as a tow truck and multiple fire units are on the way...(Update...vehicle is on it's roof on the right hand side of the road...
