Copper Concert Series featuring The Jeff Watson Band and Diamond Duo |

Copperopolis, CA....During the month of September Copperopolis Town Square will host “Copper Concerts,” a series of free live musical performances open to the public. Performing this weekend will be blues aficionados “The Jeff Watson Band” and “Diamond Duo,” known for performing a range of popular music. These two shows will be held Friday, Sept. 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Jeff Watson Band) and Saturday, Sept. 12 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Diamond Duo). For a full September schedule please click HERE. Attendees can bring a chair and relax in the park, or enjoy the music from the patio at Panini’s Italian Grill or Snaps Coffee and Wine bar.....

Family Medical Centers Closures for Labor Day...Angels Camp Open All Three Days! |

San Andreas, CA...To provide access to medical care during the Labor Day weekend, the Family Medical Center in Angels Camp (222 South Main Street) will be open all three days from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Family Medical Centers in Copperopolis, Arnold and Valley Springs will be closed in observance of the holiday. According to The College Board, Trends in College Pricing 2008, the average published total charges, including tuition and fees and room and board for in-state students at public four-year colleges and universities in 2008-09 are $14, 333, 5.7% higher than 2007-08. For private four-year colleges and universities, the same total charges are $34,132, 5.6% higher than a year earlier....

Two Youths Injured in Quad Accident, One Flown to UC Davis |

Two local youths were injured over the weekend in a quad accident after being ejected. One boy was taken to Sonora Regional with minor injuries. The 2nd boy was flown to UC Davis with moderate injuries. See full CHP release enclosed....

Copperopolis 150 Year Celebration Being Planned! |

Copperopolis, CA....The Copperopolis 150 Year celebration planning meeting was held last evening. The meeting was led by Linda Beck at the Copperopolis Community Center board members. There were about 60 people in attendance. The 150 year celebration will take place on Saturday June 5th and will replace the 2010 Homecoming Parade. The purpose of the meeting was to gather ideas from the community regarding the theme and staging of the events. They met in teams of about 6 and listed those things they would like to see incorporated in the event. Each team then shared their ideas with the group. There were a LOT of GREAT ideas...such as..... |

Copperopolis, CA....The Modesto Police Department held a K-9 training at Copperopolis Fire Department on Wednesday. The team of highly trained K-9's were put through their paces reinforcing their bark and hold training, their extreme talent as narcotic dogs, tracking and water bites. Water bites?The Modesto Police K-9 Unit is operates within the Operations Bureau of the police department. It currently consists of 13 highly trained K-9's, 7 of these canines are cross trained and one is solely for drug detection. Cross-Trained dogs are K-9 teams which are trained to do both Patrol Dog functions and Drug Detection Dog functions....
