Junior competition for this weekends’ racing was astounding. Among the competitors was six year old Talon Ace Chambers of Livermore. Talon, being the son of two world champion parents began jet skiing at the young age of three years old. Mother Brenda, 3 time World Champ ’81, ’87, and ’88, was proud of her son and his achievements. Smiling warmly and pointing out that being from a jet skiing family he was bound to love the sport. Father, Art “The Ace” Chambers was World Champion in ’92. ....

What better way to spend a Friday evening than listening to the silky soulful sounds of Grover Anderson on his acoustic guitar and sipping a variety of Chatom Vineyards delicious, thought provoking wines? Snaps hosted Chatom Vineyards Friday night to the delight of many Copperopolis and Angels Camp residents. There were creative appetizer’s provided by Panini’s and an eclectic yet somehow perfect selection of wines to sample. Most started with the 2007 Semillon. The comments heard floating through the room were ‘smooth’ .....

Fire News...Vegetation Fire on Hwy 4 |

Copperopolis, CA...Crews from multiple agencies and air craft out of Columbia are responding to a vegetation fire on Hwy 4 near Telegraph. Please use caution in the area. We will post updates if the fire gets up a head of steam. (Update One...We just heard from Charity Maness who is on scene and this one is already a decent size. No official acreage estimates yet...(Crews on scene are reporting two fires near lower Telegraph. One of 15 acres or so and a larger one of 100 acres or so with a moderate rate of spread. CAL-FIRE command center has also issued a routine "Move Up and Cover" order for a few engines so you may see fire equipment better positioning themselves for coverage. (Update as of 5:42pm..The fire has jumped the road and is on both sides of Telegraph....

Copperopolis,CA...Charity Maness took these photos on scene of The Telegraph Fire which was called contained at 6:13pm by CAL Fire. They are stating 50 plus acres were involved. No cause has yet been determined. Update 9:45pm, We jsut spoke to Chief Santos at the Copperopolis Fire District "the fire is contained. However, crews will remain on scene for the mop up stages."

Copperopolis, CA..Board of Directors meeting held 9:00 am June 25, 2010, 370 Main St, Copperopolis.Bucking the current trend of layoffs and hour cuts to balance a budget, Copperopolis Fire Protection District has created a viable preliminary budget without any disruption in quality service to the district. Multiple variations of a budget had been crunched before reaching this preliminary budget. Each of the other possibilities were discarded due to potential layoffs included within the budget. “We have adequate funds on hand to avoid a cash flow issue” through December 2010 Cantrell stated.... |

Discarded Cigarettes Cause of Oak Tree Fire |

Copperopolis, CA....CAL Fire states cigarettes caused an oak tree fire on June 23rd. The fire occurred at 300 Block o Winchester Way in Copperopolis. There was an old oak snag next to the house that the the homeowner discards cigarettes in and around. The tree had enough dead material on the inside to ignite the tree on fire. The fire did not extend beyond the tree. CAL FIRE UNITS RESPONDING: COPPEROPOLIS: ENGINE 4462; LOCAL UNITS RESPONDING: COPPEROPOLIS FIRE: ENGINE 231, MEDIC ENGINE 238. CAL Fire report enclosed...

Copperopolis, CA...The pop radio music station KHOP fm 95-1 visited Copperopolis today offering residents an opportunity to win tickets to Six Flags by entering a drawing. They also were promoting the new tastes of Sobe Life Water, offering 20 oz bottles for just 99 cents. Austin and Sarah, from KHOP, were just “hangin’ out” and enjoying “meeting the people of Copperopolis.”
