George William Gemberling 1931 - 2019. Services November 23rd

Copperopolis, CA...George William Gemberling, son of Irvin & Ethel Gemberling, was born July 2, 1931 and was welcomed into eternal rest by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 10, 2019. He was born in Shamokin Dam, PA and graduated from Selinsgrove High School in June 1949. In July 1949 George joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany. For the next 2-1/3 years he remained with the US Army until his Honorable Discharge in Nov 1952.

Angels Camp, CA...On Wednesday November 13th Bret Harte FFA conducted their third general meeting of the year. At this meeting twenty-five FFA members received their chapter FFA degrees, which is the highest award that can be given at the chapter level. To earn this degree you have to meet specific requirements such as have already received your Greenhand degree, completed 180 hours in an agriculture class, helped to conduct three FFA activities, raised $150 and worked 45 hours in your record book, demonstrated parliamentary procedures, show progress in the FFA program, and have a good scholastic record.

Angels Camp, CA....We have had a few articles that seemed to stay in the que much longer that we had hoped. Lets chalk this one up to the PSPS interruptions. Summerville took this one on a blocked punt as time was running out 15 - 12. This was also Senior Night and we have a few photos and video of that portion of the program as well.
























Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Vote 5-0 to Adopt New General Plan After 13 Years of Delays ~ John Hamilton

San Andreas, CA...This morning at the Calaveras county board of supervisors meeting the supervisors voted 5-0 to adopt a new general plan for Calaveras county. It has been since 2006 or 13 years since Calaveras county has had a functional general plan process. In the last 13 years there have been millions spent on consulting fees, planning fees, community meetings, community plans etc. In addition to the direct costs there have also been the indirect lost opportunity costs, lost wages and stagnant communities where even the projects that everyone left and right would want died stillborn or were bled to death from prolonged legal battles and almost certain death.

Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit's Whittle Prescribed Burn Now Scheduled for Ignition November 13th

Angels Camp, CA...The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will conduct a prescribed burn in Calaveras County. On November 13th and 14th, 2019, approximately 450 acres of grass, chamise, and oak understory will be burned on the Whittle Vegetation Management Plan (VMP) site, west of Angels Camp, along the east side of Fowler Peak. The prescribed burn will reduce hazardous fuel loading within the project area. Smoke will be visible from Angels Camp, Highway 49 and Highway 4. Burning will be conducted from 8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. each day.
