Congratulations Mark Twain Union Elementary Students...We Have the GATE Math Bowl Results!

Congratulations to all of the Mark Twain Unified district students who participated in the GATE sponsored Math Bowl. Scoring was very close at all levels of participation. The top five student scores from each grade will compete with scores state-wide. Students who placed are commended for their efforts. All winners will receive certificates and medals at the end of the school year academic awards assembly....

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain St. Joseph's Facilities and Project Development Director, Larry Cornish addressed the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors this morning on all of the great things that are happening at the Hospital. He brought the Hospital's Business of the Year award up & also promoted an upcoming Job Fair that will be held at Toyon Middle School to showcase the healthcare jobs available in the area. One of the biggest news items in his update, was the announcement that the Mark Twain St. Joseph's Healthcare District will be building a 13,000 square foot medical facility in the new Copperopolis Towne Square....

Calaveras & Western Alpine Counties, CA...The great weather and 3 Day weekend brought the visitors to our area in droves. From the almost 5,000 skiers on the hill at BVMR, to the packed sledding hills and cross country trails at Bear Valley Cross Country and the hundreds of snowmobiles zipping about. The the outdoor recreation venues of the Ebbetts Pass Corridor were definitely firing on all cylinders last weekend. It was more than just snow play that drew them. Murphys and the surrounding wine region was teeming with activity as well. We spoke with several wineries who said that it was the busiest President's Day Weekend they had ever had....

We here at ThePineTree would like to congratulate the students from the Mark Twain School District who were the "Kindness Hero" Essay Winners. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for writing such beautiful stories. These essays have made people all over the county tear up as they are quite lovely. Angels Camp, CA...We had the pleasure to chat for a few minutes with The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce's Executive Director, Diane Gray. One of the big pushes for the Chamber this year will be Economic Development and bringing additional jobs to the county. The Chamber is meeting with Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Chair, Steve Wilensky next week. A Supervisor's Study Session will be held at a later date on Economic Development. This will enable what everyone can do to enhance the economic vitality of our area....
