Copperopolis, CA.....The Calaveras County Chamber Of Commerce will Host this month's mixer at the new Copperopolis Town Square this Thursday June 26th from 5:30~7pm. Be there or be square! This is a perfect chance to mix and mingle with other business people. There will be food, wine and prizes!

San Andreas, CA...Smoke from the fires burning in Northern California is affecting parts of Calaveras County. This is resulting in poor air quality that can be harmful to residents, especially persons who are more sensitive to the effects of smoke. The Calaveras County Public Health Department and Air Pollution Control District are advising residents to take precautions to prevent exposure to wildfire smoke. All persons who can see or smell smoke, should avoid outdoor activities...

Our Board of Supervisors Will be Busy Bees on Tuesday Morning |

San Andreas, CA.....Our Board of Supervisors have a busy Tuesday planned. They start off the meeting with some agenda items then move on to Budget Hearings. Some of the agenda items being discussed are a Resolution Item approving the first amendment of the Solid Waste Collection and Hauling Permit between Amador/Calaveras Disposal and Calaveras County; A Resolution Item amending the basis of funding and calculation for the Land Use Departments Designated Fund 54300000; A Resolution Item authorizing an extension of a subdivision agreement with CRV Enterprises, Inc for Olive Orchard Estates; A Resolution Item accepting as complete a portion of road improvements authorizing release of a portion of the security and amending subdivision agreement for Copper Hills; A Minute Order approving and authorizing Board Chair to sign the certification statement regarding approval of child care priorties for general child care and development funds and state preschools. San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Planning Commission is back in action Thursday, June 19th at 9am. There will be a Public Hearing regarding California Asbestos Monofill, Inc. The project site is located on 675 acres approximately 5 miles southeast of Copperopolis. They are requesting a Zoning Amendment and revised conditional use permit addendum to the EIR. Team Will, a non-profit Sacramento-based group cyclists, whose mission it is to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer research, just embarked on its second 10-day “Ride To Reach The Day” from S.F. to D.C. with full medic and SAG support. ThePineTree Pedaler, Brett Loring who did the ’06 Ride from S.F. to Virginia, rode 115 miles of Shift 2 on Monday from the rally at the Capitol to Truckee in Team Will’s June 16-26 ride.....

FIRE NEWS...Grass Fire Reported at Hwy 4 and Bar 20....Traffic May Be Slow in the Area....(Updated) with CAL Fire Report |

Copperopolis, CA....There are reports of a small grass fire possibly started by a vehicle at Hwy 4 and Bar 20. Fire is not spreading. Unknown acreage estimate at this time according to Lisa Williams with CAL Fire. There is traffic congestion in the area so please use caution. More to come if needed......(Update) Spread of fire has stopped at 6 acres in size, air assets has been released. (Update #2) While on scene we found out....

1/3 of the Homes in Calaveras County May Lack Final Inspections States Community Development Department |

San Andreas, CA...Final Inspections in addition to the Budget, Flood Plain and other issues were in front of the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors today. At nearly the close of the meeting Supervisor Tryon wanted to see the Board hold a study session at a future date on the CDA's current reexamination of property records to see whether homes and other building projects have in fact had final inspections. Stephanie Moreno came in to address the Board on this topic. She mentioned that her department is charging nominal, typically under $200 fees for the final inspections and that the inspections are held to the standards of the codes which were in effect when the projects were built. A larger bombshell that came out during this discussion, may possibly be the number of homes and projects her department feels may be in need of final inspections. The CDA staff estimates that up to "1/3 of the homes in Calaveas County may need final inspection"...
