Valley Springs, CA...On Satruday morning Mark Twain Medical Center held their Summer Health Fair in Valley. Community Heath industry booths and Mark Twain Medical Center and Family Medical Center staff were on hand for free and low cost health screenings and more. Also there were Mark Twain Cancer Center's Michael Helwig the Registered Dietitian and Director Debbie Peterson. They are striving for the best in integrated cancer care close to home.

San Andreas – Each year illegal and misused fireworks cause serious injuries and damaging wildfires. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is taking a zero tolerance stand against anyone possessing, transporting or using illegal fireworks. The penalties for possessing, transporting or using illegal fireworks ranges from a misdemeanor up to felony charges plus the cost incurred for fire suppression..

San Andreas, CA....Temperatures are expected to hit the century mark in the foothills this weekend and through early next week. Dr. Dean Kelaita, County Health Officer, urges residents to prevent heat-related illnesses by being aware of the dangers and taking action. Infants, children and the elderly are at higher risk of heat illness. Other persons at higher risk of heat illness have health conditions such as obesity, fever, dehydration, heart disease, poor circulation, or misuse of drugs or Temperatures are expected to hit the century mark in the foothills this weekend and through early next week. San Andreas, CA...The latest activity logs for our local Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputies. The normal calls for disturbances, thefts, a fraudulent money order, etc. There were some animal related calls for two dogs left in a truck and also an altercation between a dog and a goat. Apparently it is an ongoing relationship problem between them....

Fire Update..20 acre Fire near Milton & Sonora Roads

Milton, CA....Last evening air and ground crews held a vegetation fire off of Sonora Road and Milton Road to 20 acres. Sometimes fires in this area can grow to over 100 acres in seemingly just minutes. With the temps on the rise and "Summer" returning lets be careful out there. It will only take a day or so to remove the moisture from the grass and vegetation that our little storm system left behind...

Copperopolis, CA...The CCWD Rate Increase Road Show rolled into Copperopolis last night. It was another contentious meeting with the Rock Creek Park Community Room filled with ratepayers and citizens concerned with the proposed rate increases from the district. Even though the mood in the room was anything but sanguine it was however calmer than the donnybrook that was the Arnold town hall. The race will probably go down to the wire to see if the ratepayer groups can get enough votes to stop the increases from going into place....
