Assessed Values in Calaveras County Increase About 6%. Assessment Roll Totals Almost $5.8 Billion |

San Andreas, CA...According to figures released by County Assessor Leslie Davis, the assessed value of property in Calaveras County increased about six percent. This year’s assessment roll totals almost $5.8 billion. The assessment rolls provide the basis for funding local government services. Almost two-thirds of the property taxes are shared by local school districts. The balance of the property tax is shared by the County, City of Angels, and special districts such as fire districts...

2000 New Recycling Carts Heading To Calaveras County This Week |

Calaveras County, CA....New recycling carts coming to a driveway near you. Cal-Waste is distributing 2000 NEW carts to Calaveras residents, starting today and ending on Friday. It is all a part of their efforts in making the trash collection more efficient and safer for the County and the hauler. Cal-Waste says... "We look forward to seeing a positive change by this distribution. This is just the beginning…plenty of MORE carts to come!"

Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) Awards Grants for 2014 |

Calaveras County, Ca...The Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) has just awarded eleven grants for 2014. The combined amount of these grants equals $53,612, and was given in the areas of County Youth K-12, Aging in Place for Seniors, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). These topics represent the initiatives CCF has identified as being instrumental in helping our community. The five members of the Foundation’s Grant Committee received 15 grant applications. A great deal of interest was generated by our 2014 initiatives, resulting in an excellent group of submitted applications for funding....

Copperopolis, CA....CHP is reporting an overturned big rig with trailers on Obyrnes Ferry and Copper Cove Ct. It is non-injury but traffic will be affected for awhile to remove the vehicle. Please use caution in the area...

Effortlessly blending americana, bluegrass, soul, and old time music, this fantastic ensemble filled the Copper Town Square with uplifting and exciting tunes. With people young and old relaxing on the lawn, in fold out chairs, patio furniture, at tables, on steps, or even in bean bag chairs, the 23rd Annual Music in the Parks Concert Series was kicked off with quite the crowd. This engaging group had listeners laughing, dancing, and singing along as they put on their show...
