Posted by: thepinetree on 07/24/2014 02:09 PM
Calaveras, CA...It's hard to believe that summer vacation is past it's halfway point and school will be starting in just a few weeks. There are still so many things we haven't done on our Things-To-Do-This-Summer list! And it's not just weekend getaways, but those little home improvement projects that we swore we would finally get to this summer. With your kids on summer vacation, you have plenty of helpers to get through your home improvement projects in no time. I'm sure by now you've heard "Mom, I'm bored" at least a few times. Even though there is an abundance of toys, video games and family pets to occupy their time. Oh, and there is also that place called "outside" where they could go play, but you know how that goes. Castle & Cooke’s Saddle Creek Resort Catering to Bay Area Baby Boomers

Posted by: Lea_Marie_C_Paar on 07/18/2014 03:45 PM
Copperopolis, Ca – Saddle Creek Resort – the Castle & Cooke golf community in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Calaveras County – has seen an influx of Baby Boomers to the small town of Copperopolis, reflecting national trends recently reported by SFGate.com. According to a March survey by Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate, LLC, 39% of Baby Boomers would like to retire in a rural community. Many are also foregoing mortgages. “We were looking for a quieter, less hectic, less expensive lifestyle, while remaining close to the city so we could still attend shows and other cultural events and see our grandkids,” says M.J. Young, a long-time Bay Area resident who moved to Saddle Creek with husband Ron. “Saddle Creek is an easy two-hour drive from the Bay Area, so it truly offers the best of both worlds.” The community is just over 20 miles from Sonora, which offers shopping, museums, an opera hall, renowned regional hospital, and more. The larger metro areas of Modesto and Stockton are about 45 minutes away. Closer to home are the quaint shops and restaurants of Copperopolis Town Square...

Posted by: Lea_Marie_C_Paar on 07/18/2014 07:09 PM
Sacramento, Ca — The American Red Cross Capital Region is targeting “high-risk” communities to raise fire safety awareness and reduce fire risks. This Sunday, local Red Cross volunteers will begin an effort to educate and inform community members in Calaveras County about the dangers of home and wildfires and what they can do to prepare and reduce their risks. “Home fires are by far the most common disaster across the country, so it is critical that everyone take steps to prepare and help prevent these tragedies,” said Kathleen Weis, Chief Executive Officer of the Red Cross Capital Region. “Building awareness and taking action is key to reducing the number of fire incidents in our communities.” Working with local fire and law enforcement agencies, Red Cross volunteers will go door-to-door, canvassing local neighborhoods considered “high-risk” for fire emergencies, providing information directly to residents that will help them to prepare and protect themselves, their families, and their homes from the threat of home and wildfires...
