Murphys, CA....Stacy Apley is a cancer survivor, now on her second round of treatment. There has been a website set up for Stacy, www.swingforstacy.com. This website will keep the us all informed on Stacy's progress and also the fundraising efforts our community is involved in to help this family out. Stacy is a lovely woman who is married to a wonderful man and is blessed with three young children. She lives in Murphys with her family. The first fundraiser scheduled to be held is "The Stacy Apley Second Round Cancer Survivor Benefit Golf Tournament" with Dinner and Auction. It will take place on Friday, June 13, 2008, at Greenhorn Creek Golf Course......

Copperopolis, CA....The town of Copperopolis held a Community Plan Meeting tonight at the Copperopolis Fire House to talk about the vision of Copperopolis. In attendance was Supervisor Russ Thomas, the Plan Community Update Committee Members, others who have contributed to the plan, CDA Director, Stephanie Moreno, Nathan Atherstone from the County Public Works Department and many local residents from Copperopolis. One of the big topics of discussion was Parks and Recreation and how to enhance the recreation and trail opportunities around the....

San Andreas, CA...After a round of public meetings, including a study session with the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors, and much public dialogue we can report the following to you. We confirmed that the Building Department changed the way they “interpret” our current Fire and Life Safety Code mid year 2007. They were strongly challenged for taking this new position and we did have some limited success in softening the impact. Where the mitigation since 1992 was to pave the driveway, that is no longer the rule of the land....

Angels Camp, CA...Yesterday was the second in a series of Economic Committee Meetings leading up to a County Wide Economic Summit in late June. A dozen or so Government & Business leaders met again at the County Government Center for over 2 hours planning and prioritizing items to focus on. The Economic Development Dialog has been spearheaded by the Calalaveras....

CHP Release in on MVA that Occurred This Morning |

San Andreas, CA....We just received the CHP release on the motor vehicle accident that occurred this morning at 8am at Little John Road North of Quiver Street. There was one adult from Copperopolis and three children also of Copperopolis that were transported to different local hospitals with minor injuries. Apparently the driver of a 90 Toyota was traveling northbound on Little John Road at a speed of 50-55mph. As she was negotiating a curve in the roadway, her vehicle started to fishtail. She then hit her brakes and lost control of her vehicle eventually overturning. The full CHP release is enclosed.....

Copperopolis, CA...Saddle Creek Resort, the gated, 900-acre Castle & Cooke community located in the scenic foothills of the Copper Valley, has named Elizabeth Kallio chef of its award-winning Copper Grille. Kallio is a graduate of the International School of Bangkok (Thailand), Michigan State University and the Culinary Institute of Oakland Community College in Farmington Hills, Michigan. She recently served as the personal chef to Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm and her family at their private residence on Mackinac Island.....

Angels Camp, CA...The City of Angels hosted a presentation on Retail Economic Development to a packed house on Tuesday afternoon at the Angels Camp Fire House. The meeting lasted about two hours. Amy Wetzel with the Buxton Company made a presentation onvarious economic development strategies, ranging from small retailers to more traditional approaches with national chains. The Buxton Company is one of the largest retail placement and location scouting companies in the nation. They help companies pick locations and they also help communities and locations attract retailers. After the presentation the discussion really opened up with members of the public, Angels Camp City Council...
