Trick or Treating and Pet Costume Contest at Animal Services |

San Andreas, CA...On October 31st we will be having Halloween fun at Animal Services by offering trick or treating during our business hours (8am-4:30pm) for kids and pets who are in costume. For pets in costume we will be having our first annual costume contest and I will be taking pictures of the critters in costume who wish to enter the contest. I will post the pictures on our Facebook page where the public can vote by ‘liking’ the picture, the voting will go until the end of the day on 11/3 and the winner will be announced on 11/4 in the morning. Grand prize will be 2 tickets to the Movie Theater in Angels Camp, 2nd place will be a certificate for either a cat or dog microchip, and 3rd place will be a $15 gift certificate for Spence Feed in Angels Camp...

Copperopolis, CA...Copperopolis Town Square – the events, shopping and entertainment gathering place in Calaveras County – will host its annual ”Taste of the Holidays” celebration on Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. More than a dozen local wineries will pair their offerings with special holiday dishes and desserts prepared by the finest food purveyors in Calaveras County. A silent auction and door prizes are also scheduled....

San Andreas, CA...Heidi is an extremely beautiful, calm German Shepherd Pointer, weighs 51.9 pounds, is 2-3 years old, needs to be spayed, has had all shots except rabies and her heartworm test is pending. Heidi is a very well behaved girl who can do with a little leash training. She seems to like other dogs, comes when called and was totally mellow and relaxed on all of the temperament tests. Tootsie is a 5-6 year old spayed Chi mix who weighs in at 6 pounds. Poor little Tootsie was found wandering around all by herself. Tootsie just wants to be with a human who will cuddle and spoil her and let her sit on a nice warm lap. She does not seem very interest in other dogs or cats but sure may like a friend to be with in a new forever home. She will need a rabies shot but has her other shots...

Hathaway Pines, CA...47 days after receiving her California State Horsemen’s Association (CSHA) Region 4 Royalty crown McKensey Middleton traded it in for the CSHA State Royalty Crown. On Sunday August 25, 2013 fifteen year old McKensey Middleton of Hathaway Pines brought home top Honors in the CSHA Region 4 Royalty Contests. Region 4 is one of 18 regions in the state that makes up the California State Horsemen Association. The Region 4 area includes Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, & Tuolumne Counties. The winners of the CSHA Regional events qualify for the State Level Competition called the CSHA Show of Champions at the Santa Cruz County Fair Grounds...

Calaveras Community Band's Annual Fall Concert to Benefit Rosendo Rojas |

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Community Band’s annual fall concert will take on special meaning when it is presented Sunday, November 3, 3 p.m. in the Dr. Elliot A. Smart Performing Arts Center at Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp. Although there is no admission charge, donations will be solicited with all proceeds going to the family of Rosendo Rojas, of Vallecito, the band’s percussionist throughout his middle and high school years. The young man is battling a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer involving surgery and extended treatment. “Rosendo is a beloved member of our band family,” states bandmaster Mic Harper. “He has been courageous during this terrible ordeal and we want to do something to demonstrate our support and affection.”

Copperopolis, CA...Last Wednesday evening we had the chance to stop by Copperopolis Town Square and the offices of Stevenson Wealth Management. They were holding one of their "Wine Socials" they have for clients to meed and talk about investing strategies and portfolio management. At this meeting they had representatives from a firm in San Diego who specializes in minimizing risk while returning better than market average returns.
