More than 40 of Calaveras County’s most acclaimed winemakers, restaurateurs and plein air artists will converge at Ironstone Vineyards, 1894 Six Mile Road, Murphys, for the Eleventh Annual Taste of Calaveras from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 22nd. The event features wine tasting, gourmet samplings, live music by the Bob Eisenmann Jazz Trio, food and wine demonstrations, local artists painting along with artisans on site and a silent auction featuring Calaveras experiences and Calaveras products. Arnold, CA...It looks like spring will make an appearance starting tomorrow along the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada. Today At lower elevations, rain showers in the morning, then rain showers likely and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. At higher elevations, rain and snow showers. Highs 34 to 49 higher elevations...49 to 57 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...2 to 4 inches higher elevations. Snow level 7500 feet. Prevailing south winds up to 10 mph. Tonight Mostly cloudy in the evening then clearing. At lower elevations, a chance of rain showers in the evening. At higher elevations, a chance of rain and snow showers in the evening. Colder. Lows 20 to 35 higher elevations...35 to 41 lower elevations. Snow level 7000 feet. Prevailing south winds up to 10 mph shifting to the southeast after midnight.

Margaret Howery, 88 From Copperopolis Passed Away In O'Byrnes Ferry Collision

Copperopolis, CA...A 61 year old Twain Harte man was traveling northbound on O'Byrnes Ferry Road south of Copper Cove Drive at an unknown speed. For an unknown reason Margaret Howery allowed her vehicle to cross over the double yellow lines, into the southbound lane directly into the path of a Dodge being driven by the Twain Harte man. She sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Dodge sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center.

Arnold, CA...Along the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada Today Rain and snow showers. A weather system will continue to bring more snow to the Sierra Nevada and Southern Cascades through early this evening. The brunt of the snow is expected through the early morning hours. Locally heavy snow with lowering snow levels is possible in showers through the rest of the day. Highs 27 to 41 higher elevations...40 to 48 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...1 to 6 inches higher elevations. Snow level 5000 feet. Prevailing southwest winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 30 mph.
