Copperopolis, CA...When Rick Morgan got the call to come to Saddle Creek he was thrilled. Morgan, who took over as General Manager of the resort last July, calls it the best golf course in Northern California after Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill. A 30-year veteran of the California golf industry, Morgan had played the course numerous times prior to coming on board and was very impressed with the area. He previously spent ten years as general manager at Woodbridge Golf and Country Club near Lodi, overseeing the club’s transformation into a world-class facility with golf, swimming, tennis and full dining services...

Angels Camp, CA...Last Wednesday evening the Bret Harte Multi-Purpose room was filled with a good sized crowd engaging in community participaton on the future of traffic in the Angels Camp area. The group answered a complete battery of questions about what was important to them. This was the first of three meetings planned for the study. Calaveras County, CA...Dear Editor, I was very pleased to see the refinished billboard for Marine Lance Cpl Gavin R. Brummund. I had attempted to contact the wonderful gentleman who put it up. I wanted to do a fundraiser for a new one. Every time I drove by the faded one,it made me sad. I would still like to contribute towards the new one. As a Gold Star family, anything we can do to honor our service men and women, who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, we support. Thank you to the gentleman who did this. Now I smile and salute him every time I drive by.

San Andreas, CA...This unique fundraising event, a collaboration between the Calaveras Arts Council and the local Soroptimist club, runs from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the San Andreas Town Hall. The evening will feature art, music, a no-host bar, buffet dinner catered by the Pickle Patch, fabulous raffle baskets and other items. Julie Youngblood will host rousing rounds of Xtreme Musical Chairs, a real crowd pleaser in the past. Terry Weatherby, our 2015 auctioneer, will bring fun, humor and help bidders to take home the perfect chair!
