Copperopolis, CA...."There are 10 horses, 9 mares and a stallion in Copperopolis, Ca living in these horrific conditions. These horses were brought to our attention in January of 2010. At that time we were advised by Calaveras County Animal Control that the owner had until February 2010 to improve the living conditions for these horses or they would be taking legal action. We offered our help at that time to Animal Control as well as the owner to take all of these horses. A concerned citizen emailed us these pictures taken yesterday and Wednesday......

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 01/27/2011 10:16 PM
Copperopolis, CA....We reported on some horses in Copperopolis earlier today....this is a follow up letter from Darren Spellman I received a bit ago...."I spoke with the Sheriff twice tonight. I strongly encouraged at the request of the public, that action be taken sooner after hearing from many people, some of which are equine professionals who believe the horses might not survive until February 1st. In that light, the Sheriff has committed to sending deputies first thing in the morning to assess and for possible removal of the animals at that time......
