Copperopolis, CA...Copperopolis Town Square, the shopping, events and entertainment center in Calaveras County will host their Annual “Spring Festival & Eggapalooza” on Saturday, April 15th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day’s activities include Easter egg hunts for kids from age 1 to 10 from 11 am to 12 pm and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny from 12 to 2 pm. There will be plenty of games and contests for kids and free Easter goodies! There will also be plenty of delicious bites, shopping specials and fun for the entire family. Hop on out to Copperopolis Town Square Spring Festival and kick off your Easter weekend in bunny style.

Angels Camp, CA...Bret Harte varsity baseball traveled to Delhi yesterday and Pierce Gill started and pitched 3 innings of no hit ball with 8 strikeouts! Ryan Kraft came in afterwards and pitched the last two innings in a run shorten game. Bret Harte was dominate and easily winning 15 to 0 Bret Harte has now started the season off 2 and 0 for new head coach Mike Avecilla. The Bullfrog schedule is below...

Mark Twain Medical Center Awards over $31,000 in Community Grants To Area Not-For-Profit Organizations

San Andreas, CA...February 24, 2017– Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) is proud to announce the names of the several Calaveras County not-for-profit organizations to receive the Mark Twain Medical Center Community Grant for 2016. The hospital honored grant recipients at an awards luncheon held February 22, 2017. To date, more than $380,000 has been awarded to Calaveras organizations by the MTMC Community Grants Program. The Mark Dignity Health Community Grants Program varies according to the size of each hospital. Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, or have a fiscal agent that is a 501(c)(3) organization and capable of administering the funds; the project or program must be a response to the health priorities identified in the local Dignity Health hospital’s community health assessment or benefit plan, and the project to be funded must involve collaboration with a minimum of two other organizations and/or with a Dignity Health hospital in our community.

Arnold, CA...A bit of weather returns just to show us that winter isn't done with us yet. Along the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada...Tonight Showers likely. Lows 15 to 30 higher elevations... 29 to 35 lower elevations. Snow accumulation of 2 to 5 inches. Snow level 3000 feet. Prevailing southwest winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 35 mph...except southwest 20 to 30 mph over ridges. Monday Mostly cloudy. Snow showers likely in the morning, then a chance of snow showers in the afternoon. Highs 20 to 35 higher elevations...35 to 43 lower elevations. Snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches. Prevailing southwest winds up to 10 mph with gusts to around 25 mph. Over ridges, prevailing southwest winds 15 to 25 mph decreasing to 5 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Not as cool. Highs 31 to 43 higher elevations...41 to 51 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...8 to 13 inches higher elevations. Snow level 7500 feet. Prevailing south winds 10 to 25 mph, gusts up to 40 mph increasing to 55 mph in the afternoon. Gusts up to 75 mph in the afternoon. Over ridges...prevailing south winds 20 to 35 mph increasing to 40 to 60 mph in the afternoon. Tonight Heavy rain at lower elevations...and heavy rain and heavy snow at higher elevations. Very windy. Lows 26 to 38 higher elevations...37 to 43 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...7 to 12 inches higher elevations. Snow level 7500 feet. Prevailing south winds 25 to 35 mph increasing to 25 to 45 mph after midnight. Gusts up to 75 mph. Over ridges... Prevailing south winds 40 to 55 mph increasing to 45 to 65 mph after midnight.

Today At lower elevations, heavy rain in the morning, then rain showers in the afternoon. At higher elevations, heavy rain and snow in the morning, then rain and snow showers in the afternoon. Windy. Highs 32 to 46 higher elevations...43 to 53 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...3 to 6 inches higher elevations. Snow level 7000 feet decreasing to 6000 feet in the afternoon. Prevailing south winds 15 to 30 mph decreasing to 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Gusts up to 50 mph. Over ridges...prevailing south winds 30 to 45 mph becoming southwest 20 to 30 mph in the afternoon.

Meet Dr. Lonnie Smith Chief Medical Officer for Mark Twain Medical Center

San Andreas, CA...Patient convenience and satisfaction are critical goals for Dr. Lonnie Smith, the new Chief Medical Officer at Mark Twain Medical Center. Dr. Smith joined the MTMC Leadership Team in November with responsibilities that include overseeing operations of the hospital’s five Rural Health Clinics and three Specialty Care Centers. Clinic administration is just one of Dr. Smith’s multiple roles as CMO. He is also the senior physician executive working with the administrative team and medical staff to recruit and retain doctors, contract for specialty services, oversee several departments including Physical Therapy, X-Ray, Laboratory – and more. The clinics began serving local communities over 20 years ago and have been a major focus in Dr. Smith’s first months at MTMC.
