Arnold, CA...The rain and localized flood warnings are going to be with us for another few days. Rains will taper off after tomorrow and snow levels will drop back down along the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada. Today At lower elevations, heavy rain. At higher elevations, rain and snow in the morning, then rain in the afternoon. Not as cool. Highs 38 to 50 higher elevations...48 to 56 lower elevations. No snow accumulation. Prevailing south winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 35 mph...except southwest 15 to 30 mph over ridges.

Copperopolis, CA...In 1895 James A. Tower was only 16 years old when, using barbed wire fencing, he strung the first telephone line for what was to become The Calaveras Telephone Company. As demands for the telephone service increased, the young Mr. Tower found it necessary to establish a central office in the small community of Felix near the town of Copperopolis. Then in 1899, Mr. Tower, now 20 years old, negotiated an agreement with Sunset Telephone Company that would connect his subscribers by telephone with the rest of the world.

At higher elevations it should put a fresh coat of white on everything for the upcoming weekend. Today Partly cloudy in the morning then becoming mostly cloudy. Highs 37 to 51 higher elevations...48 to 58 lower elevations. Prevailing southeast winds 5 to 15 mph. Tonight Mostly cloudy. At lower elevations, a slight chance of rain in the evening, then a chance of rain and snow after midnight. At higher elevations, a slight chance of rain and snow in the evening, then a chance of rain and snow after midnight. Lows 22 to 37 higher elevations...34 to 40 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 2 inches higher elevations. Snow level 5500 feet. Prevailing southeast winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 35 mph...except south 15 to 30 mph over ridges.

Copperopolis, CA...Laura Ann Pascual of Copperopolis, age 60, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, Ca. Laura was born on May 6, 1956 in Utica, New York. When she was 16, Laura moved to Sacramento where she met her husband, Anthony Pascual. Anthony and Laura were married on July 16, 1974 and moved to Copperopolis in 1983 where they have resided ever since.

For an undetermined reason, Latina turned his vehicle to the left causing it to travel off the west side of the roadway. His vehicle overturned and collided with a tree. For an undetermined reason, Latina was located outside his vehicle and had succumbed to his injuries.
