Suspect Arrested In Copperopolis for Burglary, Robbery and Vehicle Theft In Angels Camp

Angels Camp, CA...On 04/24/17 an Angels Camp PD officer took a vehicle theft report, where the suspect entered the victim's home and threatened the victim with violence if he did not allow him to use his vehicle. The victim said that a mutual friend brought the suspect to his home, and that he only knew him as "Joey." On 04/26/17 another Angels Camp PD officer was doing follow-up investigation on this case and met with the victim. During the interview the victim advised of a previous incident that occurred on 04/15/17, where the same suspect took the victim's car after threatening him with violence. After taking the car on 04/15/17, the victim stated that the vehicle was returned on 04/22/17. Fearing violence, the victim did not initially report the first time his vehicle was taken.

Copperopolis, CA...In 1895 James A. Tower was only 16 years old when, using barbed wire fencing, he strung the first telephone line for what was to become The Calaveras Telephone Company. As demands for the telephone service increased, the young Mr. Tower found it necessary to establish a central office in the small community of Felix near the town of Copperopolis. Then in 1899, Mr. Tower, now 20 years old, negotiated an agreement with Sunset Telephone Company that would connect his subscribers by telephone with the rest of the world.

Arnold, CA...It looks like spring will make an appearance starting tomorrow along the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada. Today At lower elevations, rain showers in the morning, then rain showers likely and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. At higher elevations, rain and snow showers. Highs 34 to 49 higher elevations...49 to 57 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...2 to 4 inches higher elevations. Snow level 7500 feet. Prevailing south winds up to 10 mph. Tonight Mostly cloudy in the evening then clearing. At lower elevations, a chance of rain showers in the evening. At higher elevations, a chance of rain and snow showers in the evening. Colder. Lows 20 to 35 higher elevations...35 to 41 lower elevations. Snow level 7000 feet. Prevailing south winds up to 10 mph shifting to the southeast after midnight.

Margaret Howery, 88 From Copperopolis Passed Away In O'Byrnes Ferry Collision

Copperopolis, CA...A 61 year old Twain Harte man was traveling northbound on O'Byrnes Ferry Road south of Copper Cove Drive at an unknown speed. For an unknown reason Margaret Howery allowed her vehicle to cross over the double yellow lines, into the southbound lane directly into the path of a Dodge being driven by the Twain Harte man. She sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Dodge sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center.
