San Andreas, CA....The General Plan Update Process took center stage at yesterday's Planning Commission Meeting. By all accounts the county's go to interim "Mr. Fixit" Community Development Director Brent Harrington has waded right in and hastening changes and pushing things along. In taking the interim position Mr. Harrington had some specific goals of keeping the General Plan Update process on track and smoothing out the workflow processes within the Planning & Building departments and enhancing the customer experience. Lifelong Calaveras County Resident, Marilyn Ann Giannini, Has Passed Away

San Andreas, CA....Lifelong Calaveras County Resident, Marilyn Ann Giannini passed away of Natural Causes on April 3, 2009, at her residence in San Andreas. She was 78. She was a great wife, grandmother and friend to all, who looked back fondly to all those years she and her husband spent bowling in Angels Camp with dear friends. She is survived by her husband, Ernie Giannini and a daughter, Sharon Tesch of Double Springs, CA; Brother, Robert Haupt of Tracy, CA, 8 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Rick Giannini.....

The lipid panel is a group of tests to determine risk of coronary heart disease. The future of water has been a prominent feature of the news in the county as of late. Arnold, CA...Relay For Life of Calaveras County volunteers were out in force this morning painting Arnold Purple to get County ready for April 25, 2009 at Bret Harte Union High School for the 2009 Relay for Life! Volunteers started at 10am this morning in Arnold for their Show Us Your Hope Campaign. They tied purple ribbons all over town to show hope for a cure and generate community support. They will be in Murphys at 1 p.m. meet at the Alchemy Restaurant Angels Camp is next...

Retired Publisher of Valley Springs Daily News, Frank Eckblom, Has Passed Away

San Andreas, CA....Longtime San Andreas resident, Frank Ralph Eckblom, age 81, passed away on 3/27/09 at his residence of Natural Causes. Frank was a retired Publisher of Valley Springs Daily News. He lived in San Andreas for 33 years. A native of Stanton Island, NY, he passed away following a brave battle with cancer. He served in the US Navy during WWII starting at the age of 17 and served as a Bozeman's Mate. He also served in the Korean War as a journalist. He graduated from the University of Miami, in Coral Gables, FL with a major in journalism and a minor in education. He was a news reporter several daily newspapers, including the Miami Herald and taught Journalism and English at Gonzales High School in Gonzales, CA.....

San Andreas, CA...The California Highway Patrol San Andreas Area will be switching to 12 hour shifts for patrol officers beginning April 1st, "Converting to 12 hour shifts for patrol officers should decrease total overtime hours and will allow for more officers working the beat" said Lt. Rail Road Flat Resident, James Jackson, Has Passed Away

Rail Road Flat, CA....James Thomas Jackson, age 49, passed away at his residence on March 22, 2009, of Natural Causes. James was a 15 year resident of Rail Road Flat. He was a native of Auburn, CA. who loved fishing, his two dogs Snoopy and Rowdy and the loving husband of 23 years to Irene Jackson. "I will miss him greatly." James is also survived by his mother, Lois Levitte of Oregon; sons, Michael and Drew and best friend, Glen Brown of Forrest Hill, CA; Sisters, Kathy and Laura Neckles of Oregon. Private services are planned.
