San Andreas, CA...Two “Mammo-GLAM” events marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October give local women the opportunity to overcome fear of a critical health screening by surrounding it with some quality girlfriend time. Think of it as “girls-night-out” with a serious purpose – helping women overcome mammogram fears and shape a healthy future. Oct. 10 and Oct. 26 are the dates for these unique gatherings at Mark Twain Medical Center.

Nurse Practitioner Linda Colliflower Brings Women’s Health Focus to Calaveras County |

San Andreas, CA...Nurse Practitioner Linda Colliflower has joined the staff at San Andreas Family Medical Clinic, after more than 20 years as a well-known professional in neighboring Amador County. She and her husband Dr. William Colliflower shared a practice of gynecology and women’s health before his recent retirement. They have treated hundreds of women from Calaveras County during those years. “I feel like my patients and I have grown up together,” she says. “I’m looking forward to connecting with them and in some instances, their daughters, once I am settled here in San Andreas.”

Arnold, CA...For the past few weeks Calaveras County has felt like a slow moving train wreck. There is a tremendous amount of noise in any train wreck, but in this case no one is listening. And no one seems to notice that the train wreck is actually the future of Calaveras County. The train left the station in May of 2016 when the Calaveras Board of Supervisors passed an “Urgency Ordinance” with a vote of 4 to 1. The ordinance prescribed rules and regulations for the legal cultivation of cannabis in Calaveras County.
