Undersheriff Mike Walker told the Board that the AB 900 Jail Funds Grant application is being driven from the consultants office to Sacramento today. San Andreas, CA....Our Board of Sups will have a busy agenda again this Tuesday March 17th. The will start off the meeting with a Minute Order authorizing Wilensky to sign a a letter supporting Senate Bill 1139 designating Rail Road Flat Elementary School to be a necessary small school; There will also be some Resolution Items regarding the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office and the USDA for to enter into a 2008 Operating and Financial Plan for Suppression of controlled Substances and a Resolution Item for Law Enforcement Services; There will be a Minute Order authorizing Board Chair to sign an agreement with Mark Twain S. Josephs Hospital for Emergency Preparedness planning for 12/17/07-8/8/08 in the amount of $76,565.00; The full agenda is enclosed for your viewing pleasure....

Angels Camp, CA….A structure fire has been reported at 1104 Bragg Street in Angels Camp. Angels Camp Fire Department was first on scene with three engines; engine 211,212, and 213. Angels Camp, Altaville Melones, Murphys, and San Andreas fire were all departments dispatched. All engines were released except for Angels Camp Fire and one engine from Altaville Melones. “Erik Alldrin and Dennis Brower were the first firefighters on scene with engine 211 and were able to extinguish the fire from the deck,” shared Assistant Chief Terry Bullock.....

Calaveras County Sheriffs Association to Hold Dinner To Benefit Local Youth

San Andreas, CA...The Annual Calaveras Deputy Sheriff Association (DSA) will hold their annual Dinner Dance on Saturday March 22nd ad San Andreas Town Hall. The event will start at 6pm with a no-host bar, then dinner to follow at 7pm. The proceeds for this event go to local youth organizations, and contributions to local scholarships every year. For those of you who may not be familiar with the issue the County is now interpreting an existing county ordinance in a more restrictive manner than it had been doing for a number of years. Awards in The 11th Annual High School Art Show...ArtSpirit 2008

San Andreas, CA....Following up a call for artists in the Calaveras County Arts Council’s 11th annual ArtSpirit Show, 131 high school students from four high schools entered a total of 200 works in eleven categories. Cash awards of $10 for First Prize, $5 for Second Prize, and Third Place ribbons were given in each category. Additionally, a $20 Popular Choice Award will be presented after the April 17 closing of the exhibit, which is open to the public at 22 Main Street in San Andreas. Here are the results....

Jenny Lind, CA....The MythBusters are making their 5th appearance in Calaveras County to film an upcoming episode. Today's Myth involves testing some scenes from the Caddyshack movies about explosives and gophers. They had us swear a vow of secrecy to protect the outcome of the MythBusting. One of the other reasons we made the trip out to Jenny Lind were they where filming this morning, was to chat with Calaveras County OES Chief, Clay Hawkins about the visit from the MythBuster's Team.
