Misty D. Levario, 41 from Wilsyville & Paul R. Goltz, 69 from Glencoe Passed Away in Hwy 26 Collision |

Glencoe, CA...The sad notifications to family members have been made and the names can now be released. On February 23, 2018, at approximately 1515 hours, CHP San Andreas units responded to a traffic collision on SR-26 at Ponderosa Way in Glencoe. The investigating officers determined that Misty D. Levario was driving her 2013 Hyundai SR-26 eastbound approaching Ponderosa Way. Paul R. Goltz was driving his 1985 Toyota SR-26 westbound approaching Ponderosa Way and for an unknown reason, Misty D. Levario allowed her vehicle to travel into the westbound lane of SR-26 directly into the path of Paul R. Goltz. The front of the two vehicles collided. As a result of the collision, both parties sustained fatal injuries at the scene.

Appeals Court Overturns Brother's Conviction in Leila Fowler's Death |

Sacramento, CA...Yesterday the Appeals Court for Third District overturned the brother's conviction in the death of his sister Leila Fowler. San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County Arts Council is proud to present an art show called “Artspirit.” Artwork will be by middle school and high school students in Calaveras County. For more information, contact Calaverasarts.org or 209/754-1774. The 21st annual Calaveras student exhibition ArtSpirit will open on February 2 with a reception at Calaveras Arts Council’s Gallery Store in San Andreas. The reception, where refreshments will be served, is from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. People will be encouraged to vote for their favorite artworks for peoples’ choice awards.

San Andreas, CA...Volunteers with the American Red Cross in the Calaveras, Tuolumne, and Amador counties are organizing a community outreach event focused on safety and preparedness. On average, the American Red Cross Gold Country Region responds to home fires every eight hours. In addition to home fires, volunteers in the region respond to flooding, wildfires, lightning strikes, and more. Being prepared can help save lives.

Jeanne Marelli (Stewart) Gibbens Has Passed Away At 92 |

San Andreas, CA...Jeanne Marelli (Stewart) Gibbens, a longtime resident of San Andreas, passed away on Feb. 13, 2018, at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her son, Greg Gibbens, in 1965; her husband, Ellis “Al” Gibbens in 1988 and her brother, LaVerne Stewart in 2011. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Fred Gerard of San Andreas, CA; her daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Rob North of Zephyr Cove, NV; and by her five grandchildren, Jeanne’ (Rick) Campbell of Half Moon Bay, Jaime (Tobin) Nelson of San Mateo, Joshua Gerard of San Andreas, Sierra (Celia Carter) North of Oakland, and Skyler (Cari) North of Leander, TX. In addition to being grandmother to five, she is survived by her 14 great-grandchildren.
